3rd party Developer's to be held to account

Robs suggestion sounds a lot like outerra........

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I'd rather see procedural and landclass type scenery (just a lot more LC options/tiles to reduce repetition and ensure continuity) that has been generated via texture tools or the render engine itself, no baked in shadows, no cars baked into a road, no clouds blocking an area, and we get a full set of seasons.  I think this is a far better direction for flight simulation both in terms of performance, storage space, and visuals ... do away with Sat/Aerial/Photogrammetry and use procedural and landclass type tiles to get within 90% approximation of real world.  We can turn off Sat/Photogrammetry in MSFS, but the results in some areas are pretty bad and often a building will appear there there is none or it's a completely different object.

This IMHO, is how the future should be and would work for the majority of computing ha

I believe this is the route X-plane wants to go down...... to me this also makes more sense, baked in cars, clouds and shadows are horrible. But time will tell.....

Indeed, but I was thinking more like UE5 ... however, no one has tested UE5 at 200mi view distances, so far only in "caves".

Cheers, Rob.

Meanwhile, even as we all gape at the technology of MSFS, strangely familiar things are happening in unexpected places.

For those that did not know, Outerra was gifted (from the military) a high resolution ortho map of the entire earth, as well as a world wide map of all of earth roads, trees, and buildings.

Keeping my eyes open.

It is like (what gives MS) the SDK's sample aircraft's (Bin) looks just like compiled bins from blender and 3ds max .. but the package aircraft (bin's) of FS2020  are in a different C++ or GL or X language than 3ds max or blender compiles.. you can see the difference with notepad.. The FS2020 default aircraft have different language than what 3ds max or blender compiles.. So it is (pointless) for 3rd party to try and make a new aircraft and get it into the hanger so you can load it..if nothing makes the bins the same

Okay, please stop with the drama for a moment and read this:

As it happens I am good friends with the gentleman who's developing the BlenderToMSFS export/compiler. Additionally, I am a member of the Discord group he and selected developers have set up to facilitate each of us learning together. There also several Asobo developers who're providing guidance and helping us learn.

I highly suggest that you register and begin participating at FS Developer (http://fsdeveloper.com). There is a ton of new things happening there every day!

Years ago I became friends with Louis Sinclair and assisted him with some stumbling blocks he was having while getting FSDS working properly for FSX modeling. Around six years ago however he decided to withdraw from further FSDS development, and has gone back to making music with his group: https://www.facebook.com/rundio.sinclair

Louis is the fellow with the beard playing his Chapman Stick.

Yeah.. but I am waiting on someone (outside of the FS2020 devs) to make a simple model and make it appear in this thing.. (This) is the hangup.. GLTF file with a Bin file.. I am telling you once you see a game is based on a (bin) file it is secretly hard coded.. I knew it and these %@#  devs did it anyway.. It is most likely (Over) for 3rd party people unless they (pay) them for the secret privy .. coming soon .. This is (not) the FS community since 1982.. these are junkers..

That is a lot of misinformation (aka: FAKE NEWS).

MS/Asobo have provided us with the tools necessary to create/export/compile both scenery and new aircraft for MSFS. They have also provided support for the past many versions of 3D Studio Max for those who use Max.

Also, as I mentioned above Vitus has generously gifted the community with his marvelous Blender2MSFS utility program for *FREE*.

The only "encrypted Content" in MSFS are the airports and aircraft that are from the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe. The reason of course should be obvious!

Then don’t buy it... read reviews before purchasing... ask others what they think about it...

Be a smart consumer...

Many reviews are heavily biased by influencer's receiving a free copy.

Some of the review web sites also always paint reviews in a positive light. Have never read a review from any of them with a do not buy recommendation.

There are some good feedback given on forums such as this but that's about it!

I wish I could share your enthusiasm but with new users, I fear that we may see the arrival (return?) of companies with low standards, getting into the market for some easy money.

A famous publisher for FSX and its "quality" add-ons comes to my mind. Its name started with "Ab" and finishes with "us"...

Great news (for those of us who aren't in a hurry)!

Apparently, Black Box is back with a GA plane:
