Panel becomes unresponsive

Featured Replies

isnt that named a long stutter?

when it happens i try not to touch anything and it comes back alone,

if you insist with clicking whatever input it will take longer or crash. Common at the start of a flight when the sim is busy loading maps and AI, weather etc. I usually give it a good time just doing nothing.

Later when zooming on gauges sometimes something triggers stutters too, sometimes no

I've had this a couple times too, and I tried clicking on it a bunch and it crashed.  If I just let it be, it seems to come back.  I have no idea what causes it, but it seems like an issue in the game.  This is way more than a stutter.  The panel actually freezes for seconds, and maybe even a minute or more.

I can confirm that opening the ATC window, dragging it around and closing it again fixes this.

Same goes for the NAVLOG window. But these windows might also be the origin of the problem. Just had a few legs on the Patagonian bush trip and there is no ATC window. I had all controls active, opened the NAVLOG screen, scrolled in it and when coming out of it, some of the controls on my HOTAS where not resposive anymore, same goes for the mouse to control stuff in the cockpit. The came back after playing around with the window, but after checking the window again a bit later, the controls were lost again.

Has anyone found a fix for this ridiculously annoying bug yet? I tried what's been suggested in this thread - resizing numerous windows (ATC, Navlog, VFR map, etc.), and changed views with the END key over and over. Nothing works. The cursor remains unresponsive. After about 5 minutes it started working again. Good thing I'm just cruising right now in A320 or I would have rage quit.

This has all the symptoms of the relevant thread being locked out by something hogging the main CPU core (apparently the current game mainly uses one CPU for a lot of the essential processes and they can only run on that main core, there was some mention of proposed improvements to this eventually) .

It's happened again and none of my CPU cores are maxed out. The game runs almost perfectly - no stutters, no freezing, good FPS locked at 30. This time it was after using the ATC menu to communicate with ATC.

Thanks, I'm reporting it. It happened three times during my 2 hour A320 flight. Can't believe this is still an issue 2 months after release - it ruins the game for me until it starts working again. Otherwise everything else seems to run almost flawless.

I've had it happen twice since launch.  The 2nd time around I had ready up on thread and was able to minimize/unminimize the ATC window and get control back.  Not as frequent for me but still something that needs to be looked into for sure.

This fix on the MSFS forum worked for me the 3rd time. We'll see if it works next time...

Had this issue a couple of times. To solve this issue, just drag some not undocked menu UIs (ATC etc.) on the same screen. Works for me every time. If it’s not working the first time, try moving a different menu UI.

I think it might be related to the ATC window, every time it’s happened to me it’s been when opening and closing it or changing something, altitude request etc., and while the AI is handling the radios. So maybe a manual change when AI is handling the radios messes it up. And why somehow the resizing helps?
