Airliners first impression

Featured Replies

Ive been flying a lot of a320 lately, and I particularly enjoy the nx mod for it. Tonight, I did a flight from EKCH to ENGM with the b748, and a flight from ENGM to ENCN with the 789.

With the FPS mod for glass cockpits I could keep my fps locked at 30, and the flights were smooth in both. The 748 AP functions are just terrible though. It is definitely the most broken of the lot. I'm used to using VS mode for climbs and descents for all my flights in MSF by now, but all of a sudden the 748 would just level off mid-climb, and refused to climb any further. There are quirks - and there are bugs a plenty with the 748. I enjoyed the cockpit of it though.

On the 789, I really noticed that Asobo has put more time into it. I don't know if they put more time into the neo or the dreamliner, but both seem well done to me - compared to the 748 at least 🙂 I didn't try the hud much, just noticed it was there. I noticed that I didn't have any unforseen quirks or bugs with the 789 like i did with the jumbo. It did what I commanded. It was smooth, and enjoyable. The cockpit was nice and I enjoyed it.

I think the 748 is a lost cause until we get a mod that properly fixes it (there already is one, but it is a LONG way to go still before I would even consider flying it). The 789 is actually pretty good, and I could see a zibo mod for it being able to upgrade it at quicker pace.

The modded A320 version has to be started from dark state correct ?

Wow, if you thought the Dreamliner was better than the 747, I'm going to totally avoid the 747 then.  I've had nothing but issues with the 87 especially trying to get the thing to land without bouncing, floating back up while over the runway instead of touching down at all, etc.  The A320 on the other hand has been great even before the nx mod for it and with that it's even better.

No, if you start it on a runway, it's fired up.  I don't know that everything is set correctly because when I see it like that I know I messed up and forgot to pick a gate and I instantly run back to the main menu to start over.  However the avionics are definitely on and the engines are running.

Charles one more question throttle on yoke is only moving left engine way to tie them together in settings

You need to change the binding, there's a generic throttle axis that will control them all.  My guess is you're probably bound to 'throttle 1' or something like that.

Well the A320 is NOT a dream to fly without mods. It floats and the ap does all sorts of weird things too. It still does that with the mods, but it's better. The a320 is better than the 747 by an order of magnitude.

The 789 needs asobo's attention and/or freeware mods to be reliable and more realistic. So does the a320. I would rate the liners like this:

1. A320
2. B789
3. ....
4. ....
10. B748

Undo the glass cockpit FPS mod and then try the auto-pilot. It breaks the AP.

To the OP point about 748 leveling off mid altitude. Do you think it’s a weight issue and it’s not able to climb at that constant vertical speed? Maybe you should taper down the V/s as you climb. 787 and a320 may not see this problem as much as the jumbo.

Nice!!!

What are your system specs and what settings were you using in sim (High/Ultra)?

That would be a bit silly. Even the best study level payware airliners in P3D have the option to start with all systems up and running.

Ah but do not have to be on a runway, hence the the question
