Scenery slow loading since this weekend

Featured Replies

been working perfect since launch, but this weekend suddenly the scenery is slow to load. Taxiing around an airport, it's all blurry, then pops in eventually. No settings have changed.

Maybe their servers are overloaded?

Do you mean scenery adjacent to airport? Airport scenery itself should be local and loaded off your drive. Did a small flight yesterday and didn't see anything out of the order. Connected to EU West server.

Check if GeForce Game Exp hasn't "optimized" your FS2020 settings. Assuming of course, you have it installed.

Did not notice that. Still, it probably remains true that weekends are the time when traffic is bound to be heaviest.

Tell me about it Cool White Cat. I can't even get 2 Mb/s here in the UK at this time of night.

Certainly not enough to fly. Scenery-wise I ain't going Offline as it makes the World look like Digi-Camo.

Oh, well, early start tomorrow morning - when everyone else is asleep and I get 15 Mb/s.

It's on my 1 Gbps connection, so I know it's not me. Must be Microsoft? It's very annoying, if Microsoft cant run their servers well, this game is dead.

I think they're working on that.

It was those greedy boys taking their LOD's up to 9.000 with that Hack and nicking all that bandwidth that caused the problems Server Side.

MS will sort it - unfortunately for us, they tried to neuter our graphics this end with the last patch and now realise that's not the way to do it.

They told us it was a mistake - and yet, it raises the question; If guys are hacking LOD to that extent - is that going to thrash the rest of us - because Servers can only go so fast?

An uncomfortable situation; that my graphics experience is dependant on others, on a server, on the demand that it's receiving.

Mind you, that's better than having to pay for the storage capacity of - what was it? - 5 Teraflops?

Oh well, it's all stuff that will get ironed out. . .

I don't know, I've never had any issues with servers. My FS PC is capped at 500mbit/s from router and I have always been downloading main installation and updates at max speed. I also tested without speed limit and then it came at full 1gbit/s. Flying around dense areas like downtown New York, I have 150+ mbit/s with peaks close to 400mbit/s. Those are also what you may call during peak hours.
