Quick A320NX (Mod) Query

Featured Replies

I finally got round to installing this and it's great - 110% to the guys working on it.

However a couple of users error type queries have arise, if someone could indulge me...

Despite running the checklists I couldn't get the engines to start and spool up - had to resort to Ctrl-E. I must have missed a step somewhere.

The display readouts at the top of the panel (altitude, speed, heading V/S etc.) are very dim and I cannot for the life of me find the button or knob to make them brighter. Found all the MFD brightness controls but not that one.

There is something about bringing an aircraft to life from "cold and dark", though (minus the bit where I got stuck), I always remember enjoying the old Ready For Pushback 747 add on from earlier FS versions in that respect.

Thanks.

I suspect that is probably it Dave. I will have another go later on. I’ll also rewatch 320 Simpilot’s Tutorial.

Ran into this as well the first time I tried that mod (latest version). Initiated engine start and it sat there turning the engine over but not lighting it up. Panned around looking for anything and noticed on the overhead that the fuel pumps were not on. Turned them all on and away we went! Only tried the mod once so far, so need to see if I missed a checklist item, or the item is missing from the checklist...

Another issue I came across - part bug, part bad pilot.... aircraft all set up and ready to go, on ground power. Forgot to turn the APU on before asking for push and start. A few seconds into the pushback, power went out (duh) and I had to fire up the APU before I could start the engines. Everything came back online and I got the engines started. Once airborne the AP refused to work. It would not follow the nav flight plan nor selected speed, heading or altitude. I presume because INS alignment had been lost, yet the ND showed correctly with the flight plan, as if it was aligned once the APU had started. So lesson learnt, do not forget to fire up the APU before pushback.

Come to think of it, I can’t remember seeing fuel pumps on the checklist. I’ll take a look after tea.

… and yes, that must have been it. Up and flying with a lovely night time departure from Hong Kong, heading across to Wuhan.

Once you've done a cold and dark start there's no going back, really. There's nothing quite like the sound of a jet engine coming to life (well apart maybe from a Class 37 thrashing away on the West Highland Line...  ).

MSFS really starting to grow on me, now the birthing pains are easing.

You need to manually turn on the fuel and fuel XFeed, as well as the pumps.  Seems like the auto checklist is not managing those two items.

Now not sure if this is a bug with the mod or the Asobo code, but when I opened the FMC to input the arrival and approach at Wuhan, it would not bring up any data. No runway choice, no STARS, nothing. After a bit of faffing about I managed to input a new destination (Calcutta!) and that did come up with the required information.

Maybe Wuhan has been put on the blacklist due to you know what...

Edit: Should add, this was after reloading a saved game.

I'd recommend a320 Sim Pilot on youtube. He flies these planes in real life, and has a ton of information to share about how the real plane systems work, as well as how to get the msfs version to behave as you'd like it to.

There are a couple of very good youtube tutorials. Search for A320 Sim Pilot. He is a real A320 pilot and has done several videos with tutorials focused on starting, setting up the MCDU/FMS, flying an ILS approach etc. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAILTiWNai7Y2zsO8ECFxcA
