Bonanza Turbo Mod RELEASED

Rob,

Thank you for this wonderful contribution to the community. You have turned an anemic plow horse into a thoroughbred!

I am enroute from KSWF to KCVG at 16,000 feet, 190 knots true, and the aircraft is performing beautifully.

Only one minor issue. It appears that the fuel quantity gauges on the MFD are not working. I filled the tanks prior to departure and both were indicating full. After 45 minutes of flight I noticed they both still show full. When I went to the drop down loading menu, it definitely shows that I am consuming fuel. I started on the left tank, which is now down to 75 percent, so I switched to the right tank, and it now shows fuel being used, but both gauges still show full.

I don’t know if this problem also existed in the default aircraft. The only other mods I have active at the moment are the Navigraph beta nav data and Jean-Luc’s fix for the skyscraper buildings.

Thanks for that  nice comment!

I'm not sure about the fuel issue. I have a feeling maybe the default fuel gauge is also suspect. Of course I should have checked this before release but there were so many hundreds of more important checks that took many hours. I didn't change anything I am aware of that could influence that gauge, though I did alter the fuel consumption values for the purposes of tuning the fuel flow gauge, but that can't affect the fuel quantity gauge.

Perhaps someone with knowledge about the fuel gauge could chime in?

My good sir, thats a beautiful gift you gave us, went testing this baby from Valence (france) to a remote airstrip 6000ft up into the Alps, north of Nice, that was amazing, the climb to 11000ft was lightning quick, and once put against the pdf you made, the perf checked out perfectly, 195TAS spot on with 29.6, 2500rpm and 17gal/hr.

The flare, on the inclined strip, was magical, so smooth.

I spent a lot of time making the flare as controllable as possible. Thanks for noticing it, and for your other kind comments.

Hi Rob - I know for many mods on the Nexus sites people have a 'Donate' option set up to allow downloaders to show some thanks for the hard work and time of the modder.

Do you have any way of donating? I'm very appreciative that you did this for all of us and would be happy to show it more than just saying 'Thank You'. 😊

Donate option is now live at Nexus. I don't know if it actually works but time will tell :) Thanks for your very kind suggestion.

Your mod file, has put a smile on my face, and hope in my heart. Please concentrate on your health, but when you are able, there are legions of loyal fans waiting to support any commercial aircraft endeavor you would ever consider.

For a few moments last night, I was once again in a superlative GA aircraft, with well harmonized controls, and expected performance.  It was reminiscent of the feeling you and Sean always gave me with every purchase.

So great to fly your electrons once more!  I am happy to donate my time to work at getting your files on GitHub or elsewhere- just say the word.

Ta- C

Many thanks indeed! I think the GitHub upload seems to be working ok now (thanks for the offer of help).

Hi Rob,

If this goes well for you, if it's a pleasant experience, if we don't ask for too much, could you please consider a mod for the 172 steam gauges & g1000 versions for us? 😀

A pilot is always learning and I LOVE to learn.

I have the standard (not premium) copy of Fs2020 so I have the C172 Sp A1000 version. I haven't really tried it properly yet but will consider doing it next if there is popular support.

It appears that the fuel gauge markings are not linear. The markings for the first half of the tank quantity (zero to 20 gallons) occupy 75 percent of the scale, with the  second half of the total quantity (20 to 40 gallons) occupying the last quarter of the range.

Now that I have burned off more fuel, the pointers are moving left finally. My right tank is now at 56 percent, and the pointer is just above the 20 gallon mark, so the gauges are indeed working. The real aircraft may be the same with a G-1000 display - hard to say without seeing a photo.

I think I noticed a similar thing now I think of it. I would personally find it rather disturbing to have my fuel displayed in this non-linear way, but maybe it is a "feature" of the G1000 Bonanza version?

I had an car like that once -  very disturbing until you figure it out.

Now that I think about it, the analog gauges in the A2A Bonanza are also non-linear, but in that aircraft you can see the needle come off full as soon as fuel starts burning off. In the MSFS version, you have to burn quite a bit more before they start to move.

I suppose having more accurate readings when getting below half full are more important, but on a aircraft where switching tanks is required now and then, it would be nice to see when an imbalance is developing when starting out from full.

Hi, friends.  I've done a little bit of work so that we can have our cake and eat it too, with both great G36 mods available -- TheFrett's and this one.  This is a little intricate, but I've tried to make it doable in as few steps as possible.  (It would be a lot easier if we could redistribute the stock planes, but that would clearly be a nono.)

Since this mod is more of a full overhaul than a rework like TheFrett's, I decided for this to make a new copy of the stock G36 as a completely new plane and lay this mod on top of it.

STEP ONE

Go into your `Packages` directory, the one which has your `Community` folder.  You'll also see an `Official` directory there, and inside that `OneStore`.  Inside `OneStore` live all the stock packages.  Copy `asobo-aircraft-bonanza-g36` from there, in its entirety, into `Community`.

eTrzbhc.png

[When I do this, myself, I get an error from Windows Security, I don't know if others will encounter this.   I had to work around it by zipping the `asobo-aircraft-bonanza-g36` into a zip file then unzipping it into `Community`.  If you have the same issue, try that.]

STEP TWO

Rename that directory to `Bonanza-Turbo-V1`.  You should now have something that looks like this in your `Community` folder.

cj2Thl0.png

STEP THREE

Now unzip the contents of this mod's zip file into your community directory as well, so that they lay on top of the copied Bonanza.  It should now look something like this.

ELiUbGF.png

STEP FOUR (almost done now I promise)

Download this modified layout.json, which combines the official files and Robert's mod, and place it into the top level `Bonanza-Turbo-V1` directory, overwriting the one that's already there.  It's probably easiest if you just right-click that link and chose "Save Link As..."

STEP FIVE (you're done after this I swear)

Click into the mod and find the `SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Bonanza_G36` directory.   Rename it to `Asobo_Bonanza_G36_Turbo`.  Your directory tree should then look something like this.

OSRQ0cC.png

All done!

Now if you did everything right you should be able to launch the sim and see this:

ZFC49Hx.png

(I tested this on my machine, and both planes worked and seemed all right, but I didn't do a full check-ride in either.  Hopefully you won't run into any problems, but if you do, let me know and we'll see if we can work them out.)

Get same security error when working with the community folder. Hack/workaround was to delete/trashbin the stuff I want. Then go into trash and copy item(s) to another folder.

Hi Rob,

Such a fan of Real Air. Always been my favourite! Enjoying your rendition of the G36. One comment, if I may. I find the beacon and strobes are flashing into the cabin alot. It is a bit distracting, and maybe not so realistic. The new flight model is very nice. I wonder if there is a way to incorporate some of the bus tie logic and other goodies from the G36 project into this one too. Food for though. Thanks alot! I don't know of your health challenges but wish you well.
