I find the beacon and strobes are flashing into the cabin alot. It is a bit distracting, and maybe not so realistic. The new flight model is very nice. I wonder if there is a way to incorporate some of the bus tie logic and other goodies from the G36 project into this one too. Food for though. Thanks alot! I don't know of your health challenges but wish you well. It's always difficult to calibrate ambient light from strobes etc. Too little and it is bland. Too much and I agree it can be annoying, but it is also tied to how bright and contrasted your monitor is. I tried to get the strobes so there was a mild flash awareness in the cockpit. I'll see if there are any other requests about this and make a decision. Meanwhile you can edit your own effects.. The simple-strobes effect is in the effects folder of the mod. If you scroll down to the bottom section of that file you can tweak the intensity and range to lower values. Same with the beacon file. I'm ok about merging different aspects of two or more mods/projects but I think it has to be done very carefully and thoroughly tested as these merges often lead to complaints when something clashes or goes wrong, and the end user needs to be completely clear about what to install and where. October 10, 20205 yr A wonderful job. So happy to see a hall-of-famer back in the game, so to speak, bringing the evidence that the new architecture and incomplete SDK don’t preclude more convincing (not to say realistic) modeling. Now if you could apply your T-Duke wizardry to the TBM or Caravan, you would make a lot of people happy. I wish you a better health ! I've done a little bit of work so that we can have our cake and eat it too, with both great G36 mods available -- TheFrett's and this one. This is a little intricate, but I've tried to make it doable in as few steps as possible. (It would be a lot easier if we could redistribute the stock planes, but that would clearly be a nono.) Since this mod is more of a full overhaul than a rework like TheFrett's, I decided for this to make a new copy of the stock G36 as a completely new plane and lay this mod on top of it. STEP ONE Go into your `Packages` directory, the one which has your `Community` folder. You'll also see an `Official` directory there, and inside that `OneStore`. Inside `OneStore` live all the stock packages. Copy `asobo-aircraft-bonanza-g36` from there, in its entirety, into `Community`. [When I do this, myself, I get an error from Windows Security, I don't know if others will encounter this. I had to work around it by zipping the `asobo-aircraft-bonanza-g36` into a zip file then unzipping it into `Community`. If you have the same issue, try that.] STEP TWO Rename that directory to `Bonanza-Turbo-V1`. You should now have something that looks like this in your `Community` folder. STEP THREE Now unzip the contents of this mod's zip file into your community directory as well, so that they lay on top of the copied Bonanza. It should now look something like this. STEP FOUR (almost done now I promise) Download this modified layout.json, which combines the official files and Robert's mod, and place it into the top level `Bonanza-Turbo-V1` directory, overwriting the one that's already there. It's probably easiest if you just right-click that link and chose "Save Link As..." STEP FIVE (you're done after this I swear) Click into the mod and find the `SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Bonanza_G36` directory. Rename it to `Asobo_Bonanza_G36_Turbo`. Your directory tree should then look something like this. All done! Now if you did everything right you should be able to launch the sim and see this: (I tested this on my machine, and both planes worked and seemed all right, but I didn't do a full check-ride in either. Hopefully you won't run into any problems, but if you do, let me know and we'll see if we can work them out.) Thank you! I'll try this today. Is it possible to add one or two liveries to that folder like I did in P3D. In P3D all I did was add the texture folder and add the text to aircraft.cfg file. October 10, 20205 yr Author Version 2 on the way ----------------------------- Hi Folks, After some good feedback and some things I've noticed myself, I will shortly be offering an update on the Bonanza Mod. There are a few niggling things I know can be improved, some from minor flaws and others that are clearly bugs in FS2020, the chief of which is that if you place a value of more than 1 for the engine power for the Bonanza it makes the start up go very wild, which is why I had to keep the start and shut down quick to hide the bug, I've now found a way around this so I can now make the startup/shutdown more relaxed. The Bonanza prop animations are very abrupt (The C172 doesn't do this and its prop animations are much better). But I can improve them a little. Here is the list of things I'm working on: 1. Start up and shut down slower 2. Allow the user to install two different intensities of lighting for those who find strobes or other lights intrude into the cockpit and too bright. 3. When empty of fuel the mod has the C of G in the wrong place which makes the Bonanza unstable on the ground. This will be fixed. 4. Slightly less grabby wheel brakes for smoother slow maneouvring. 5. I'm investigating whether to co-ordinate with others who are offering some merged mods. 6. A few more livery colour variations. 7. I'm working on a spin routine whereby a full developed spin will auto-rotate with all the controls completely neutral. I nearly implemented this in V1 but it was a bit unstable. 8. Tidying up some lighting issues and general handling improvements. A few very generous people have donated through the Nexus hub donate button. It wasn't my intention to make this anything other than a free mod, but my health issues are getting worse so any donations are very welcome at the moment. I might hold back until the next Asobo update/patch just in case it throws up some issues. Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 10, 20205 yr @robert young Rob- FANTASTIC! Another suggestion- a simple PAYPAL button (such as usual for many livery painters- buy me a cup of coffee) may also be more convenient. I have been a little overwhelmed by the many freeware sites I've been bookmarking now, and the GitHub with the Paypal may be a clean solution for many. Waiting for Tuesday sounds very smart. Final flare elevator sensitivity still feels a touch twitchy (I am using 50% curves in my PFC Console). STAY HEALTHY BEFORE ALL ELSE- we value you! Do I just create a PP button that has a link to my paypal account? If so where do I insert that button? The elevator control is a difficult one to balance. You need quite a lot of elevator authority near the stall to promote a healthy spin, but that is also exactly the speed at which the landing flare needs to be suitably floppy. There is also a flaw in the hard-coded physics. Even with "propwash" switched off completely, the slightest amount of throttle promotes a baked-in propwash reaction in yaw and pitch and this over-rides even a zero value. I am constantly working on this to improve things. Edited October 10, 20205 yr by robert young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 10, 20205 yr Rob- Exactly- just establish the PP and then add the button (ALMOST ANYWHERE- release readme, pdf, announcements etc,) You are already established enough where you don't have to earn any creditability whatsoever!!!!!!!!!! As far as elevator and other flight controls- spinning is something I do 1% of the time- flying is the remaining 99%. Until the SDK is more robust, please consider prioritizing normal flight... just ONE opinion mate. Ta- C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

Even though very few users spend all day spinning, I think it is important that any aircraft bites you back if you are low, slow and turning. It's the major cause of so many accidents and I want to incorporate this as a kind of awareness/ training aid, and for authenticity. Maybe I could offer two different flight models? Thanks for the PP tips! Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 10, 20205 yr Another vote for flight priority over spin entry. We can reserve the spins for those planes that are approved for spins. It was never fun to clean up a Bonanza after the back seat passengers puked into the map pockets and didn't tell you. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Thanks for the PP tips! Rob- NO- I absolutely believe YOU ARE CORRECT! It's just the SDK is tosh at the moment... you can revisit when it becomes capable. FOR NOW, flight over fright 🙂 At the moment, pitch is overly sensitive (and frenetically connected with prop wash), while the ailerons that are out of the immediate area have the delightful Bonanza feel. Even APP flap balloon is oversensitive to current power settings imho. By the time I'm at DN it's usually at similar settings and final flap is as expected. This exaggeration carries on in relation to the rudder/yaw moment with power application. Anything within the propwash expanding cylinder is exaggerated, I cannot imagine HOW MANY hours of tweaking this all takes, but my hat's off to you! In a year, when you release the Rob Young Ultimate Bonanza this will all be moot anyhow... 😉 C Edited October 10, 20205 yr by cavaricooper Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

However you can still inadvertently spin whether an aircraft is approved or not. It would be reasonably simple to offer two separate flight models and the user can decide. I'll see what I can do to make this an option. Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 10, 20205 yr Sounds like a good compromise. When I was flight instructing I always, without exception, taught spins and spin recovery, even to those that didn't want it. In those cases, I demonstrated entry and recovery. In the complex aircraft, like the Mooney's I didn't always spin them, but, I did include a segment on unusual attitudes and would do a couple of simple barrel rolls and accelerated stalls that sometime ended up as a spin anyway. Spins are nothing to be afraid of as it is a normal maneuver for an airplane. It was the FAA that put the fear of spins into folks head. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
