Must-have add-ons for Prepar3D v5

I'd like to say purchase Fsim studios CYVR, but it's never going to be completed, so FSDT has some good stuff, including CYVR. GSX is a great airport ground services sim. In the end, you will find it a more subjective choice as all of us have preferences, whether regional scenery , weather or accurate terrain.

I'd like to think so, but in an email exchange, they made it clear that MSFS was a priority, as well as some other things they couldn't talk about, after publicly stating that P3d v5 was still their focus.  They indicated several weeks ago that CYVR was 95% finished. Then they released 4 pics . And they've gone dark again. If you have better, more recent info, I would be happy to be proven wrong.

No I was basing off their Facebook post. So you think a scenery that is 95 percent done will never be released?

Well they release a number of misleading posts on FB about the imminent release of CYVR, back in August. It was always just 2 weeks away. Then came multiple releases for MSFS and a selective edit of previous posts. In any event, I don't feel their heart is really in it for P3d any longer. But .... this was originally a post about must haves in P3d v5.

Is it that you don't know what are your requirements?  Otherwise this is an open ended, tell-me-what-you-think-I-should-have-and-fight-it between-yourselves posting, which fosters combative division.  What got you into simming?  What do you enjoy about it the most?  How do you envision a flight sim session for you?  Have you set a budget for add-ons?  Do you want to satisfy your flight simming requirements all at once or would your requirements allow for a phase in approach?

Check SLC Cargo.. very interesting add-on.

S.

Thank you, I took a look to their web site, seems to be interesting indeed.

What I couldn't find is which aircraft are simulated. Or does it just take the seat arrangement from the aircraft.cfg dynamically?

How can it know if there is a cabin crew present on a flight I do with a BN-2 Islander? Also, there can be one or two pilots on this plane.

Can it run on a remote PC?

Maybe I get it anyway and find out myself.

The seats are set via configuration files and we have a wide range for aircraft type, you can do your own as well.. but it is better to ask directly to the developer, join the discord server where he is all the time active and he will be able to answer your questions.

Just purchased it.

I'm flying for a VA doing flights in Alaska mainly, but sometimes going done as far as to San Diego. We don't fly jets, they are not allowed. Turboprops are. Aircraft I use for flights are in the range from the Piper Cub, Cessna 152 through C172, C185F, AN-2, Beech Duke, BN2 Islander, PBY Catalina, DHC2, DHC3, DHC6, G-44, G-21, up to DC-3, ATR 42 and C130 Hercules.

This is great fun and looking at the description of SLC I'm confident I will enjoy it. It will surely enhance the immersion on my flights when hauling hunters to the big game places between Vancouver and Fairbanks. I will then report my experiences with the addon.

One thing I can tell right now already: there is a user manual. 60 pages. Cool!

Rarely mentioned but a top 5 must have for me is Zinertek HD Airports, it's not so much as the airports but the overhaul of the textures for runways and taxi ways.

that's just for default airports right?  Assuming they don't modify payware

correct, if you only fly to payware then don't bother getting it.

It replaces the default pavement textures...there are some lower-end payware airports that use the default textures, so those will also be affected.
