@Turpentine, you’ll appreciate I don’t have MFS so your references to render scaling mean nothing. Can you briefly explain how that works please?

Is it some way of artificially changing resolution or the zoom factor?

Yes, it's pretty much an upscaling technique: at 70, the software renders graphics at 70% of the native resolution, then upscales it to match the screen's resolution. It works quite well.

In that case it sounds like something to be avoided if you want to retain maximum image quality. Seems odd to provide that.

It's a less demanding way to get really quite  close to the original image quality. Works well for those whose systems might be struggling trying to hit the resolution running at 100%. Nothing odd about it at all.

Understood. Maybe one day I can see it working and its benefit will be clear.

If you don’t go 4K you probably don’t need to be buying a 3080

I do 1440 and need way more than a 3080!  At least more VRAM and as much proc power.

i do 4k and my 1080p is very good except in bad weather and at night in scenery with a large amount of DL.  I lock at 30 refresh rate though

There are times however where vram isn't enough.  Not many, but it does happen

It doesn't take too much in the way of bad weather to get to the VRAM of 8gb and hit 100% utilization, but it's not to hard to dial back where needed to cope with this.  So you're right it's not really too bad even w/ a RTX2070Super, but often I'm not flying in the highest density areas for complexity.  RobA says he's hit 19Gb of VRAM use but presumably that was w/ dialing up LOD in the .opt file.  Right now, w/o PMDGware and I have no idea what that and DX12 will bring, but my guess is 16Gb ought to be good enough, and def need 30 series processing power to avoid having to stop and adjust sliders.
