MSFS 2024 vs MSFS 2020 : side by side
I suspect comparisons will be very location-specific. I love flying in mountaineous areas, and in that context FS2024>>FS2020.

MSFS 2024 Launch Post-Mortem
Same thing over and over again, post after post... This is really getting tiring. The ultimate example of a first-world problem... In the end, it's just a flight sim, and you have the options of getting a refund or waiting for things to improve, while continuing to enjoy MSFS2020 in the meantime. Anyway, it is what it is, it's a forum after all, I just wish I knew before opening them which threads will end up being just another angry rant.

Your memories when you first saw the trailer for MSFS 2020?
This is fantastic, thanks for sharing!

Your memories when you first saw the trailer for MSFS 2020?
I was gobsmacked. But then I went on the avsim forum, saw a lot of "this is not game footage", "it will be a dumbed down product", "bait-and-switch on the horizon", "MS is just there to take our money", etc. and got depressed 😆 I'm happy to report that my initial reaction of utter shock was the correct one!

parallel42 MSFS2024 Testing update
As someone already said: it's all about setting your expectations right. FS2020 wasn't perfect out of the box. But do I wish they had waited for all the issues to be ironed out before releasing it? No darn way. I've had a great time from the start. And this time it's even easier: if there are too many bugs on Nov 19th, I'll just go back to FS2020 for the time being.

Genuis Jorg Neumann, the biggest name in Flight sim history
Whether it's thanks or not to Jorg Neumann, all I know is that between the early 2000s and 2020, I barely did any flightsimming. I just could not get myself to invest money on new hardware so that I could run what I felt was like a very stagnant hobby. To me, flightsimming had become a thing of the past, too niche to ever get the innovation it needed. The years since 2020 have proven that flightsimming could actually flourish commercially beyond my wildest dreams. I never, ever expected something like that to happen.

BeyondATC Released (EA)
Sure there are some inconsistencies and not everything is absolutely perfect, but from the perspective of a casual IFR sim flyer, I have to say that BeyondATC is absolutely fantastic, it completely changes the experience and makes flying so much more immersive. It's so easy to use, even for newbies like me, so much less intimidating than Vatsim. Plus, voice recognition is phenomenal, even with my pathetic little microphone and no headphones (it's so good that I cancelled my order for a headset with mic). Game changer for me.

None that I have found so far. It's pure bliss.

Frame generation for all RTX cards
Between this FG hack and the Adaptive LOD mod, it's just insane how smooth MSFS is for me now. I was shopping for a 4000 series to replace my antiquated 2060 Super, but no more. Really crazy, never expected I could get such performance.

Frame generation for all RTX cards
It now works on my end. I uninstalled following the readme instructions, then noticed that HAGS was turned off, even though I had turned it on earlier. Turned it back on, rebooted, reinstalled the mod, and now the frame generation option is available.

Looks like I'm having the same issue as you. Let us know if you find a solution.

Frame generation for all RTX cards
Should I see the "NVIDIA DLSS FRAME GENERATION" in the settings (i do have "NVIDIA DLSS SUPER RESOLUTION" though)? Because I don't, and I have no clue why. And no pop up showing up when I launch MSFS. I don't get it. On a 2060 Super.¸

i5 3.6Ghz or i7 2.93Ghz
Turpentine replied to Turpentine's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks a lot for the replies, very helpful. OK, so here is some more detailed info:CPU, technically I have 4 choices: 3.2GHz Intel Core i3 processor with 4MB level 3 cache; supports Hyper-Threading (2 physical cores, acts like 4 with HT) 3.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 4MB level 3 cache; supports Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost (2 physical cores, acts like 4 with HT) 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor with 8MB level 3 cache; supports Turbo Boost (4 physical cores, i5-760) 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor with 8MB level 3 cache; supports Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost (4 physical cores, looks like it's an i7-870) As I was mentioning, I was mostly hesitating between the 3.6GHz i5 or the 2.93GHz i7. I should also mention that one of the downsides of an iMac is that as far as I can tell, OCing is not really a possibility (can't add cooling)In addition, for the i7 it would come with (for the 3.6GHz i5 the GPU would instead be a ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM)Memory: 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM; four SO-DIMM slots support up to 16GBGPU: ATI Radeon HD 5750 with 1GB of GDDR5 memoryHope this makes it easier.

i5 3.6Ghz or i7 2.93Ghz
Hi all,So i've got what I hope is an easy question: I am ordering an iMac (not negotiable) and hesitating between the version with a 2.93Ghz quad-core i7 (Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading) or the one with a 3.6Ghz dual-core i5 (Turbo boost and hyper-threading). The difference in price between the two systems is about $150, so that won't really be a factor. All the rest is the same. FS will be run through bootcamp, so no question of OS compatibility here.I had heard that for FSX the processor speed was most important, which would push me towards the i5. But at the same time a lot of people here seem to swear by the i7... am I confused for nothing? Thanks a lot
