October 16, 20205 yr Very cool to see a developer so upfront with what the project is and is not and I have to say, the price is right, hard to believe there is a discount offered on top of the $10 price but apparently there is if you previously owned Vancouver. Just an FYI for everyone Fsdreamteam is happy to announce the release of Vancouver V2 for MSFS 2020. This scenery has been converted to MSFS 2020, starting from the FSX version we released in 2013. However, is not a “straight” conversion, and there has been many changes, both due to the changing airport layout, but also to offer specific MSFS features when possible.- The airport layout has been updated. A whole new section of the main Terminal ( Pier B, Gate 11-28 ) has been modeled, together with the new extension ( Pier A, gate 1-12 )- Due to these changes, lots of parking names has been renamed, to reflect the current situation.- All textures and materials has been improved and converted to PBR, with added normal map details and proper metallic/roughness maps.- Dynamic Lighting has been remade entirely from scratch, using the native MSFS 2020 lighting system, with hundreds of individual light sources.- The background photoreal image has been updated to reflect changes at Piers A and B of the Main Terminal.- All Aprons materials has been remade using the native MSFS system.- All 3d taxi-light fixtures have been remade using the native MSFS system.- Runways have now their correct Slope profile.- Jetways has been all remade according to the latest MSFS 2020 SDK.The scenery cost only 9.9$, and if you are an existing user of the 2013 version for FSX, you can even get an extra discount on top of that! Instructions about the discount will be sent by email to all registered users. If you bought the 2013 version from Simmarket, the discount price will be shown in your account there. The product has been sent to Microsoft for approval, so it will should be available on the MS Marketplace soon. October 16, 20205 yr great price! worth picking up, although i feel all these airport releases are pointless right now until we get a decent airliner

October 16, 20205 yr Finally, a handcrafted airport for CYVR! I have a question for anybody that may be knowledgeable about FSDreamTeam's products. I assume if I get it off FSDreamTeam's website, the install procedure should be similar to the KeyWest install procedure. So my questions are: 1) What's the difference between getting this on the MSFS Marketplace versus getting it directly from FSDreamTeam's website? 2) If I get it off of FSDreamTeam's website, can I just copy and paste the unzipped files into the "Community" folder in MSFS? Or do I have to run their installer? (I would prefer not to run their installer if possible) Since FSimStudios is also coming out with a CYVR airport, it may get messy for me if I purchase both the FSDreamTeam CYVR and the FSImStudios CYVR, especially if I want to remove one version and use the other other version (or swap between both versions, however that is done - I have no idea how I would swap between the FSDreamTeam and FSimStudios version of CYVR). i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Explained here: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,24167.msg160563.html#msg160563 Quote 2) If I get it off of FSDreamTeam's website, can I just copy and paste the unzipped files into the "Community" folder in MSFS? Or do I have to run their installer? (I would prefer not to run their installer if possible) Always run the installer and always run the uninstaller, if there is one. First, it's not possible to install our products for MSFS without running the installer, because the installer will check your license first. And, it will create a symbolic link to the scenery in the Community folder, so it will stay in its own folder, together with all the other FSDT products, which makes it easier to keep it updated automatically with the FSDT Live Update. Yes, the installation is identical to Key West or KORD V2, and it's the same regardless if the scenery is bought from FSDT or from Simmarket. The MS Marketplace will install differently, and it will be like any other add-on in the MS Marketplace. Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
October 16, 20205 yr So the price of KeyWest is the same in the MSFS Marketplace and on FSDreamTeam's website (I am not a past customer so I won't get the discount from FSDreamTeam). So it's reasonable to assume the price of CYVR will be the same in the MSFS Marketplace and FSDreamTeam's website. So if my understanding is correct, since the price will be the same, the pros & cons of buying it on the MSFS Marketplace vs FSDreamTeam's website are: 1) If I buy it on the MSFS Marketplace, it will be associated with my Microsoft Store account. Meaning I don't have to deal with a separate installation/update program from FSDreamTeam. 2) If I buy it at FSDreamTeam's website, I can install and play CVYR earlier. If I buy it at MSFS Marketplace, I have to wait until it shows up in MSFS Marketplace. Also, any updates/fixes by FSDreamTeam to CYVR will come out for FSDreamTeam website buyers first, and then show up in the MSFS Marketplace later. Is this about it? Or are there other pros/cons that I didn't consider of buying it at the MSFS Marketplace versus FSDreamTeam's website? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
October 16, 20205 yr Commercial Member I think my previous link to the post on our forum indicates all Pros and Cons quite extensively. And yes, for a new user, the price will be the same. Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook

In that thread, the FSDreamTeam representative writes the FSDreamTeam version is "more compatible with utilities like flight planners, maps, etc." I didn't know that. May I ask what compatibility issues the MSFS Marketplace version will have? Can you perhaps explain in more detail about this? It would help me make my decision to purchase the MSFS marketplace version or purchase off the FSDreamTeam website instead. Thanks! i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

As of today, when you buy a scenery from the MS Marketplace, it's .BGL files are encrypted using the Marketplace DRM. This means, if you have some 3rd party utility that needs to read the airport file for any reason, for example a Flight Planner that reads the parking or the navaids from the airport, will be unable to do so, since the airport file ( what used to be called "AFCAD" in FSX ) cannot be read. This is of course the current situation. Nobody knows if the MS DRM will improve at some point, either allowing developers to tell Microsoft not to encrypt some files, or allowing access to the airport data even if it's encrypted, for example using an updated Simconnect.
