Did We Really Need a Super Computer

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just curious I bought MSFS20 and used it for a lousy one day as I don't like it at all (but thats a seperate issue). I have a bog standard system that isn't exactly high end:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor
nVidia GeForce RTX 2060ti 8GB
16GB RAM
WIndows 10

I maxed out the settings on MSFS and it ran smoothly with great visuals no stutters and no performance issues what so ever. Yes the sim looked beautiful but I have returned to P3D as at the minute MSFS is a aesthetic game at best.

My question is, I see people panicking all the time on here and on social media "Will my system run it" paying £1000's on new equipment etc, but if my system can run it smoothly, did we really need a super computer that everybody thought / thinks we need to run MSFS?

Why would I waste my time posting this thread if it wasn't factual? Purpose of a forum is to discuss seriously with intelligent suggestions and comments, unlike yours?

Try fly from KLAX or another big international airport with live weather and Live traffic at the airports busy hours and come back and tell us how smooth your rig is....

As I said I've uninstalled and gone back to P3D as I'd rather have a simulator than a game?

I used it flying out of EGCC and like I mentioned no issues really.

If your doing the IFR autopilot FL300 virtual airliner thing you are not going to have any issues - other than the fact that the sim is not targeting that smallish specialised group at present and probably will not for about a year or more (as evidenced by the fact that the majority of default and all marketplace planes are GA).

Nope, used it for a day and VFR around the North of England, and had absolutely 0 issues?

No, that is correct.  You do not need a supercomputer to run the light aircraft VFR.

But now you have uninstalled the 'game', and you have proved it for yourself, it seems like a waste of time hanging around here and asking these kind of questions doesn't it?

Unless of course you are just trying to get the cheap 'game' shot in under the guise of a 'serious' but pointless question. 😲

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

As I quoted in my first post, the first sentence reads "(but thats a seperate issue".

I tend to agree, I got a ryzen 3600, 2060 and 32RAM and I can't complain.

I run between high and ultra settings on a 1080 monitor and I (almost) don't have any stutter or performance issue.

The best thing is there is not much difference between high and ultra, but performance relies heavily on resolution.

You Question is pointless as your clearly not going to use the sim. So just what was the point of you post?

Just go away.....bye

You seem mature?

I presume you don't understand the definition of forum. I can post what I like or what I feel is a discussion. Clearly you are incapable of understanding that.

I understand you need for attention seeking. Close the door as you go.

Says the user that posts exact system specs in his signature? Obviously its apparent your not mature enough to have a discussion so I suggest you leave this thread and comment on something more in line with your intelligence quota.
