The new iris website is up and if you go into your account you can download the update from your order page. I assume Orbx users also have access to it through Orbx. - I checked a few of the obvious things like the PFD not working on the 170 and the magnetic compass issues and they seem to be fixed. The dash lights they added are panel down lights and pretty effective. They are turned on and off by the landing light switch. - I have not checked the FM changes but they did say that is a WIP ( I think they tweaked prop wash, roll and inertia this time) - Cockpits seem a little better, some of the more obvious low res textures are fixed, and things like the throttle knobs seem more realistic - though overall the interior is still too shiny and new and "squeaky clean" especially with all the bright upholstery they have modelled (I will keep working on a cockpit pack) - still not compatible with Saitek switch panel All the more obvious glitches seem to be fixed and they have promised another update shortly. They seem keen to get any issues sorted quickly. Edited October 28, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

October 28, 20205 yr The “public beta” concept seems to be getting traction... I’m happy that unlike @Carenado, they are at least paying attention. Looking forward to a comprehensive review after the update. C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

Looking forward to a comprehensive review after the update. C I think it is more a case of they were rushing to get it out so they could move on to their Grob Twin Astir and PC-21 planes they announced they were also working on for Fs2020. If so it was not a good plan. Either way they clearly are supporting it which is a good sign. Edited October 28, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

October 28, 20205 yr It's a bit better, but flight model is still off. I tried to fly at max gross and still can't climb coordinated without left roll. Hopefully, author will continue tweak it! October 28, 20205 yr Commercial Member Feedback after update by Crocodoc84 Thanks for the update, here my feedback… Thanks for the update, here my feedback… -aircraft is very unstable now on the ground, especially in turns its very easy to scrape a wingtip. Not sure if the real thing is such ‘slushy’. -nose wheel does not turn even with full rudder and the aircraft turning -transponder code is now forwarded to external clients (VATSIM/IVAO), mode and ident however are not. -J160 EFIS and map screen are plain white/ blank when on. Installed via ORBX and already de- and reinstalled. Screens on the 170D are fine. -on landing with full flaps, it’s nearly impossible to lose speed until the horn sounds before touchdown, because the tail would already scrape the ground -with the working title GX mod, you always get a low volts warning -you will get approach marker sounds even though no gauge is on board for them -in tighter turn the tires will sink into the tarmac approx up to the wheel fairings -landing light is illuminating the cockpit, which seems strange given the position of the light -pushing the starter button in all aircraft will also apply the parking brake -upon engine start, the avionic switch is turned on automatically -idling on the spot, the aircraft will rock like it was on floats on a nice lake. For me the earlier version was better from the usability standpoint… 😉 Edited October 28, 20205 yr by OSM
October 28, 20205 yr Author They did respond to that almost straight away. There are definite issues but on the plus side they are keen to address them. Quote -aircraft is very unstable now on the ground, especially in turns its very easy to scrape a wingtip. Not sure if the real thing is such ‘slushy’.I’ll refine the moment of inertia values a bit more then…made them a bit to high. -nose wheel does not turn even with full rudder and the aircraft turningWill investigate this -transponder code is now forwarded to external clients (VATSIM/IVAO), mode and ident however are not.Unlikely to be addressed at this stage. Only possible using Simconnect which is outside the team skillscope. -J160 EFIS and map screen are plain white/ blank when on. Installed via ORBX and already de- and reinstalled. Screens on the 170D are fine. This is a known issue in the external views. It’ll be looked at as we progress in learning. -on landing with full flaps, it’s nearly impossible to lose speed until the horn sounds before touchdown, because the tail would already scrape the ground.Possibly Moment of Inertia or Drag issues. Threshold speed is 65 KIAS, so coded to land probably about 55 KIAS. -with the working title GX mod, you always get a low volts warningNo idea what that is, we can only produce based on the sim as it ships, not using external mods. -you will get approach marker sounds even though no gauge is on board for themI noticed that the other day, will look into it. -in tighter turn the tires will sink into the tarmac approx up to the wheel fairings.See moment of inertia values. October 28, 20205 yr Yikes again! Understated when I said this was rushed and not tested throughly. For a great company like IRIS, this is not great PR for their first release. Glad they are responding, but patience with proper testing would avoid so much of this. Glad they are responding, but patience with proper testing would avoid so much of this. it is unfortunate as they clearly put a lot of effort into things like extra liveries and documentation and the external 3D model looks fantastic but then a heap of little bugs sneak through, and the FM varies from actually very good one minute and then off the next. HOWEVER I think there is more behind it then just a need for quality control on Iris part. It is cannot be coincidence that only one or 2 developers have brought aircraft to the market after more than 2 months (and many have started work well before the sim was released) and virtually every aircraft released to date has been a simple GA single. That really says something about the state of the SDK and aircraft development for the game in general. Edited October 28, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
October 28, 20205 yr Agree absolutely Glenn! It is almost predictable that there will be issues from aircraft released at this point in time with the current state of the SDK. So, the question remains, why are companies not waiting to release given the current situation. Revenue over headaches?
