October 30, 20205 yr I have used both Active Sky and FS Global Real Weather over the last year. I've always had AS, but I bought FS Global Real Weather when it became available for P3dv5 a few months back. It's a really decent, and relatively accurate weather program and I like it very much. I tried it to see if AS was processor intensive on V5. It seems that AS is not, but I tried that theory anyway in my quest to get the best performance from V5. Today, FS Global Real Weather updated their software for V5.1. I just used it and I believe I had an excellent depiction of the rainy, foggy weather we have here in Pennsylvania. I also believe it played very nicely with EA. I could swear the clouds looked much better when this weather program ran within P3d. So, just a heads up. If you're needing some real weather, as I did, try FS Global Real Weather. It works great. Stan

October 30, 20205 yr Can you post a link to FS Global Real Weather. I don't have a weather program just yet for P3D (updated to 5.1 yesterday). I have always liked REX and I have been holding off on getting a weather program until I see what REX does for P3D. But it looks like REX may not be doing anything with P3D (I hope I am wrong). So I will be looking for a different weather program.

Don’t forget to download and install the BRIDGE. It’s a separate download. Needs to be installed anywhere on your computer. It acts like Simconnect for AS. Stan

October 30, 20205 yr Does FSGRW support historic weather situations? - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
October 30, 20205 yr Thanks. I just bought it and it seems to work good. probably not FSGRW related, but the ugly cloud grid pattern is very noticeable from uppon above the clouds at higher FL. Very repeatable cloud structures as well. I do think it got worse compared to the prior P3D V5.0HF2 version. What do you think? Let me know. Marcus Regards, Marcus P.

October 30, 20205 yr Image P3DV5.1 EHAM with FSGRW this morning Unfortunately also with a weather addon, here FSGRW, the cloud grid pattern exists very obviously. in my opinion it got worse with P3D V5.1 compared to V5.0HF2. Also in this picture the issue with SimObjects blending clearly through the fog/clouds? is very noticeable and somehow not looking good at all. I really think LM has to do some rework on the TrueSky implementation on the one side and 3.Party devs have to update their products regarding the Alpha Blending usage. What do you think? October 30, 20205 yr Cruising now with LIVE weather / Prepar3d V5, having a lot of fun! Yes indeed there are a lot of things to improve, Other thing which I think is annoying is that the sun is allways shining on PBR textures, but when there is a overcast it should not be like that! It is quite immersion breaking also!
November 2, 20205 yr Author FSGRW provided some nice snowy runways and driving snow in Dubuque, Iowa and parts of Michigan yesterday. I'm really pleased with 5.1 version of this program...especially since Active Sky is still not available. I believe this program has matured well over the last year. Weather seems very accurate to me. Stan
