November 7, 20205 yr B777 is a remarkable plane which I'd the chance to travel on, more than a few times. And, in spite of my decades of association with Lufthansa, I'd never got to fly in a B777. This is because, it so happens, in spite of LH's historic association with Boeing, their modern fleet, carried no B777. [Side Note: Lufthansa was, however, supposed to be the Launch customer for the (latest) B777-9X/777X, but, it appears, their plans have changed since, and it might(?) be actually the Emirates (subject Airline of this post) that would be the first operator of that type, instead]. B777 was an incredibly successful, popular, and reliable long-haul airliner in commercial deployment, and was a true trailblazer in its category (holder of many records). Here are a few points of curiosity about this plane. B777 was the outcome of the so-called "Working Together" group. For the first time, eight major airlines (such as NAR operators UA/AA etc. and INTL operators ANA/BA/QT etc.) provided input together and played a significant role during its development. It was a complex and ambitious plan (in terms of fuselage and range specifications) that actively sought out input from the key customers, from the very first stage, and incorporated their (valuable) feedback into production while using novel processes (see below). Long before 3D CAD and AGILE etc., became the catchwords of modern engineering, as they are common today, here was a prime example of development, that leveraged these techniques to maximum utility (such concepts have existed in theory since way back, but, as to putting them into practice for the creation of a complex product, B777 was a remarkable case-study, indeed, on which topic there are many academic/research articles...). The motif was iterative development i.e. develop/test/fix/deliver in increments, and not wait for collective "faults" to show up while the customer is taking delivery of the final product (or later). Gone was the process used for the B767 (based on 2D Drawings and conventional methodology) that required, just as an example, numerous (subsequent) design changes in various (structural) components of the plane..! It was now a different mindset of aircraft production. Because of its merits and many technological advancements, B777 played a role in the replacement of multiple legacy long-haul airliners (747/767/DC10/L1011/A340/MD11 etc.), and spawned the ideas for the creation of (more) modern twinjets (B787/777X/A350). B777 was the largest twinjet and set many new world distance records. The very first (P&W powered) B777 was also the first airliner approved for ETOPS-180mins. My longest (first and last) non-stop (pax) flight (~19 hours, as I recall, including a diversion to an ALTN DEST) was in an AA B777 (in the "sardine" economy class...🙂...so, once was enough...)...! When I'd experienced that (extra-long) flight years ago, frankly, it felt as if these planes could fly for ever...! Emirates Airline is the largest operator of the B777 in the world and is the only customer to have operated all B777 variants produced (including the 777 Freighter). I've travelled only once in the Emirates 777. I recall excellent cabin service and smart-looking stewardess uniforms. [Side Note: It's worth taking a look at this Airline's Cabin Crew uniform, to see, why they appear unique. Emirates' outfit, was designed by the UK-based manufacturer, Simon Jersey, in fact, best known for the iconic (and ethnic) Emirates' uniforms. ]. For this post, the CS-777, to which I'm returning after a very long time, can be regarded as quite an enjoyable SIM for the purpose of most "general" simmers (me included), with adequate systems simulation (though, from the performance perspective, on my PC, I found, today, I was forced to slide my (FSX) settings, to left, a couple of notches, for this flight...could be due to the Airport scenery used(?)....). The CS planes always include nice animation effects. Below, I've shown a couple of screenshots, where I've enabled "all" the items on their Animations Panel, including, just FYI, even the Escape Slides. I've performed a Cold & Dark start-up, and have included (cockpit) screenshots, of interim engine-start status. Hope you enjoy this sample of images, from my virtual world, of the Emirates B777-200ER (with RR engines - see close-up), lifting off from New York/KJFK, and getting feet wet into the North Atlantic Ocean, on its long way (eastward) to Dubai/OMDB. The LNAV/VNAV has been activated in climb...for automated flight...with my coffee-cup, ready at finger-tip,...just when the chime of the door-bell woke me up from my reverie...🙂...for a delivery by the local grocery-store...[So, later, I'll try to share a set of images of the B777's arrival, if my computer survives the current "Pause" Mode, and does not willfully restart itself, due to one reason or another, in my absence...🙂...] Thanks for reading and viewing...! Good rest of the weekend and happy flying...!! [CS(B777-200ER)/Drzewiecki-Design(KJFK)]

November 8, 20205 yr To misquote Disney's Dinosaur animated movie "I always did like big girls!" The T7 is a subsonic favourite of mine. 🍻 I prefer the later geometric shapes Emirates livery however. November 9, 20205 yr Author Simeon and Pugilist: Appreciated the comments. Glad you like these T7 pictures...!! Mark: Thanks. I'd seen that "Geometric Shapes" new Emirates livery....a short while ago...agree, quite a striking design...(maybe someone had shown it here too on the 787(?)...)...not sure, though, if it has been rolled out to their B777s...(in any case, that would be after my only Emirates 777 flight...)

November 11, 20205 yr Great set P_7878! I flew the BA Level D sim for an hour at London Heathrow. I found it very easy to fly. What a superb aircraft. Quote My FS Videos

That Level D sounds exciting, surely was money's worth I presume...🙂... I have transited only once via Heathrow Airport, just after they had opened/inaugurated the New Terminal 5 (nice)...not sure if the FS there was already operational by then...but, I do recall seeing Ads/Pictures for that Heathrow (Public) Simulator in some aviation magazines...

A lot of money but yes what an experience with an added bonus, I got pics for my version of the PSS 777 panel. However I hardly ever flew the 777 at all in the sim ......not sure why. My FS Videos
November 15, 20205 yr Author Yeah...like I'd guessed it must have been worth it...🙂....(though I recall, sometimes, you get your cockpit pictures, for free, having connections at high places...🙂...) The PSS 777 (re-touched) cockpit looks good with wear-and-tear... Maybe fly it, once, here, with a custom paint (a Cargo, maybe...🙂...)...
