At first I thought online player traffic was dumb because I wanted to fly around other AI traffic who I knew wouldn't be goofing around but I downloaded the fs live traffic liveries mod and I know they have big plans in the future like sharing paints so that other player's liveries will show up in your session, so I figured what the hell I am tired of these empty airports might as well try live players on top of live ai traffic and man I tell you that was pretty awesome, I just had a flight into MKJP (I guess everyone wanted to fly near TS Eta) but I was there for an OnAir mission I had and there were 4 or 5 other players, one was taxiing 2 were on final in front of me, it was pretty cool.

Guess my only gripe is not having all of our ATC's linked it would have been nice to hear ATC say "you are #3 to land behind the TBM 930 on final." Or the tower complaining about one of them just hanging out on the runway. I am so used to the live traffic AI being dumb it didn't even phase me though. 

I guess that is what is so frustrating now is that there is SO much potential here but nothing feels completely polished yet, really hope we get there because that was a blast.

Likely will take a while to get the whole simulator more optimised, i reckon.

 

What exactly is FS Traffic Liveries? Doesn't that just add real world airline liveries to the AI planes? If so, megapack livery already does that. So what's the difference between the two?

I thought the OP was referring to the live traffic feature, as in multiplayer mode.

So you get to see other simmers flying around and such.

I heard exactly this today - on Vatsim, flying into LOWW. I have just a few flights online and real ATC really adds a whole new dimension.  Loving it so far.

Very easy to join and it is free.  You do have to take and pass a relatively easy test before you can connect to the network.  I think everyone who complains about crappy AI ATC should try VATSIM.  It truly adds a whole new layer of realism to your sim flying

If you want to get a feel for live ATC this video below gives a good idea of what is involved.  She actually uses Pilotedge which is a paid service but the principles will be the same with Vatsim.

In another thread I suggested some might want to try it, but he felt just like you; he was afraid of people fooling around.

But it really can be fun.

Pilot Edge looks very interesting for learning more about ATC.

Im fairly OK with pilot IFR but really lacking on the whole controller side.

Gonna look into this later today.

You can actually configure the game so the only traffic that shows is your friends you are flying with and are on Discord with. However I do not know of anyway you can share the ATC with them.

Just be aware that Pilotedge does have a monthly fee (though it seems reasonable). They are paid ATC people not volunteers so it has a cost associated.

I have no idea if they are qualified real world Air traffic Controllers.

My understanding is vatsim are volunteers doing the ATC work but Pilotedge employs people. I might be wrong on that, I have not really researched the details.
