Windows 10 Feature update 20H2?

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried this update?  Just wondering before I install and have the sim adversely affected.  We have no direction from Asobo on this.

Just installing it myself.  I'll let you know!

I have it, it does nothing to the sim.

Hi

Yes I did - and I would strongly warn people to check first before updating.

I experienced real problems with W10 H2 (2009) not only with MSFS but with my computer generally.

In my case I could no longer access the right mouse click context menus - including starting programs as Administrator. This also had horrible effects in MSFS - I could not access the flight planning Departure and Arrivals Airport menus and my T.1600 stick could not control planes properly.

I rang my local PC repair centre and one of the guys who also has MSFS there said he'd also had problems and had to roll back to W10 2004.  I couldn't even access the Updates menu in CP to roll back - so my MSFS PC is with them at the moment.

So very serious for me. It may not affect everyone - but advise avoiding for now.

No problem with it here (so far).

Mine now says Windows 10 Pro version 19042.  Is that the one?  Just checked myself, yes, 19042 is the same as 20H2.

Absolutely no problems whatsoever in Windows or MSFS luckily.

No frame rate improvement or degradation, but I wasn't expecting any.

Also on latest NVidia drivers now (9th November), and nothing abnormal to report either.

So all good for me.  As usual, individual setups may have a different experience, but my PC is fairly standard, if there is such a thing! 🙂.

Well - the lucky sods that got their hands on Ryzen 5xxxx CPU's are from what I understand recommended to upgrade to 20H2 (may benefit the older Zen's as well?). Unpatiently waiting for my 5900X...

I even updated to Windows 20H2 for the scheduler improvements, as the Windows thread scheduler in version 1903 will definitely put loads on the wrong Zen 3 cores (I tested it). The performance loss without the update is a few percent, so make sure to update your OS when upgrading to Zen 3. I don't doubt for a second AMD's legal team didn't ensure their claims are waterproof, so I'll be digging deeper into what's going on, and will keep you updated."
