November 16, 20205 yr Hello everyone, Danny here from Manchester UK. I used to be a avid FS addict, but in the last 5 years since my old Desktop PC died and various commitments at home I never got round to replacing it and getting back on the FS saddle. I'm really excited to re-immerse myself back in the Avsim world after what feels like a lifetime away from it. Especially with the new FS 2020. Anyway exciting news, I've got a brand new gaming PC (on the credit card... haha) and I'm back in the game! Just wondered as I am very much out of the loop these days, would anyone have any advice on what would be the best Anti-Virus software for a gaming PC? I want something that's going to keep my computer safe but not compromise on performance whilst flying. Looking forward to hearing and flying with you all. Best regards, Danny USS Scirocco

Since 2015 I have used the greatly effective tandem of Windows Defender as my AV and Malware Bytes to screen out forms of malware. I have found no need to purchase any of the others. November 16, 20205 yr Danny, May I first extend a very warm welcome to AVSIM. A great forum to ask questions, start a debate or verbal fight, and to get very active community help for your problems. Anti virus ... I use Wind Defender, Avira free and Malware bytes. Avira free is updated and a scan initiated on my C drive each and every time I turn on the computer. On Sundays I scan the entire 8 drives (this takes about 5 hours) and I run Malwarebytes each and every Saturday. Thus far, I have not had a problem, but as far as I am concerned there is no such thing as "overkill" particularly when operating in Indonesia. My system of operation may not even be the best way to combat the problem, but I am sure there will be further responses to your question. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). RAM 32gb Corsair Vengeance (2x16) 3200mhz. 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080ti Extreme and a 1200watt PSU. 1 x 1tb SSD 3 x 240BG SSD and 4 x 2TB HDD OS Win 10 Pro 64bit. Simulators ... FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.
November 17, 20205 yr Welcome to Avsim! On my Windows XP machine, I run Avast!, but on my laptops which are Vista and Windows 10, I just use Windows Defender. Malwarebytes is a great accessory for removing anything that gets past the primary protection. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
November 21, 20205 yr Welcome! Enjoy your new computer. I only use the built in Windows stuff to take care of the internet invaders and have not had a problem since running Windows 10.
