TFDI 717 now officially supported in v5

Featured Replies

This airplane is higher in VRAM than any other I have.  But i have the luxury of plenty of vram so not an issue.  Been using the aircraft since beta.  My satisfaction with it in V4 was high, but in V5 not as much.  I haven't tried it since the official launch yesterday however.  So I will try it and report back.  I had the problem in beta at one point of switches not working and solved it by reinstalling the airplane.  But TFDi I think really needs to get Trueglass figured it out.  Especially since it affects other airplanes.

From TFDi's Discord server:

"We are aware of an issue with the 717 in v5 and we will be working to rectify this issue as soon as possible."

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

They claim it’s fixed.  Just need to update again in addon manager.

Did they say what the issue was?

So is this thing available in V5 or not? I see absolutely nothing on their forum indicating so. I can't reinstall the addon manager because as in the past when I try to install I get the unable to uninstall older version message. I bought the717 when it first came out as a pay to beta and endured the time of fixes including the view change crashes in V4. Not long after the view change crash issue was fixed along comes V5 and another long wait. The 717 is a wonderful addon but it seems there's always some problem that keeps it short of completion. I know TFDi is a small developer with limited resources but I wish this one plane would be perfected before moving to other projects. This is why I have little enthusiasm for the MD11 project.

Installs in V5, may have to update your TFDI Addon Manager as that downloads the update.

Like you, I also got the addon during Beta Current version is a little to heavy for my 1060, so parked at the moment.

Greetings Sir. My issue is there is no way to uninstall the Adddon manager so you can install the updated one. If you run the installer for the updated add-on manager it says unable to uninstall older version. It has no uninstaller in programs and features or anywhere else. All you can do is delete the folders if you can find them all. I'm just through with it.

If I want to fly a DC9 I'll continue to fly my Leonardo MD88:)

I just ran the update, but once in the cockpit nothing turns on. The tablet is inoperable. I went to the forum but no fix is listed. Rather unfortunate.

I sure can't see buying anything else from them. The 717 came out in pay to beta a couple years ago and there is always a fix to wait on that seems a long time coming.. Oh well. Plenty other great sim planes to focus on. Pity, it's such a cool plane.

My install route was download the addon installer from your TFDI Account, it downloaded the update, installed it. Disregard the v4 Path as I am using the registry tweak for v4 Addons.

Only issue I'm having now is installing additional textures, but no biggie for now.

Tweaked it, tried running with both Trueglass ON/OFF, had to stay with it off due VRAM Limits for my card.

Other than that, seems to be working fine (touch wood) 🙂

Hey Pete,

did you run the 717 in beta, perhaps with legacy rendering enabled when you updated? I did, and had the same issue. I then copied/pasted the panel cfg and dll available in the legacy subfolder into the main 717 folder, overwriting originals, and all was back on and normal.

Hope this made sense 😉

Cheers,

Pete

I am not certain of any of that. I think I did install into v5 as a beta originally, but I don’t quite understand the steps you mentioned above. Do I have to reinstall the addon manager? Maybe you can explain how to fix in a bit more detail?

Edit - I see what you are saying now.

Cheers, Pete

Managed to replicate this i.e. no displays working.

Can you try changing the Display Resolution, under the Performance Tab on the Customize tab , TFDI Addon Manager?

Change it from High to Standard.

I am about to try this to see if that fixes it.
