I think the reviews on that amazon site: they are mixing up some older earlier versions, the G2 reviews can not be there, I believe  Amazon doesn't sell it yet. there may have been quality issues with the previous version, I have not yet heard about problems with the new G2 that just started shipping this week.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Thank you and please let us know about your experience with VR and how the headset is performing.

Yep...CV1 is still a good choice for those with small or large IPD.  I'd also consider the rift S here if you have anormal IPD

Rift S is way better and much more practical than the CV1 for flight sim. I have both, i never use the CV1 these days.

I have not used VR in anything but my PS4 but I do keep up with the industry. The HP Reverb G2 is the one you want at the moment. But you will need a top-of-the-line PC and graphics card to run it well.

Not necessarily. G2 is WMR, which is an annoying VR implementation that should be avoided where possible.

The G2 also has a LOT of pixels to push. We don’t know yet how MSFS VR will perform, but this may well be a problem.

I’d personally recommend Quest 2 for beginners. It’s dirt cheap, and has great tracking and visuals. I’ve been flying with one in other sims for the past few days and really like it.

For reference, my currently-owned HMDs are DK2, CV1, Rift S, Odyssey+, PSVR, Go, Quest and Quest 2.

I would definitely NOT recommend an Oculus Rift (or any other below HP's resolution) for flight simulation. I have both a Samsung Odyssey Plus and the new HP Reverb G2, which has much higher resolution. I will sell the Samsung because of its low resolution, (same low resolution as Oculus Quest). If your pc can not cope with the HP's G2 high resolution, you can always reduce various settings in MSFS, but you can never turn the lower resolving headsets up. lower resolution may be ok for racing and space or ego shooter, but for flight simulation you need to read the fine print in the glass cockpit, Garmin, fmc etc.

I never had any problems with WMR in any VR game so far.

resolution (per eye) comparison:

Oculus Rift S - 1280x1440
Samsung Odyssey Plus 1440 x 1600
Oculus Quest 1440 x 1600 (same as Samsung)
HP Reverb G2 - 2160x2160

Will HP charge the credit card at the time of ordering the Reverb G2 or at the time of sending it as the waiting time seems to be so long ?

Connection (HP's U.S. distributor) did not charge my credit card until weeks after my Reverb G2 actually arrived.  I was hoping the billing part of my order had fallen through the cracks and I had a free headset 🤣

What is your experience with Oculus Rift that allows you to make such a bold statement? Have you tried flying any sims with the Quest 2?

I have many hundreds (thousands?) of hours of time with the full range of Oculus HMDs since 2015, and I spend 90% of my time using them for flight sim.

I have about 200 hours of flight time using WMR, and it’s usable but far from ideal.

The G2 is a great HMD, but the Quest 2 is also brilliant and is a heck of a lot cheaper, more available and more versatile, making it a great choice for those new to VR.

"What is your experience with Oculus Rift"

none. My Samsung has a higher resolution and I still don't find it satisfying.

"Quest 2 is also brilliant and is a heck of a lot cheaper"

I am selling my Samsung, even though it is much higher resolution than the Quest.

cheaper, older, much lower resolution, agreed.

"making it a great choice for those new to VR."

no, I disagree. not a great choice for MSFS. definitely NO. can't properly read fine print in glass cockpits, FMC etc unless you want to constantly move your head forward and back again.

everybody has to decide their priorities, if you can afford it and want clearest image quality for MSFS:  HP Reverb G2, none has same or better image quality.

...and the horsepower saved by the HPRG2 not having to compress the video over the link cable, may balance out with the extra pixels it has for rez.

It seems the general reddit feedback on the Reverb G2 is that those who genuinely know what they're doing with it are finding it an excellent headset.

Oculus are simply more knowledgeable and effective with pixel patterns/arrangement to where my Rift S appears better in clarity at a lower resolution than my Oddysey Plus.

A Rift S display pattern coupled with a method like MSAA makes for an absolute beautiful crisp clean image display.

Hence why I never went back to my O+ after trying the lower resolution Rift S

may be so, I still doubt it can compete at fine print quality, where every pixel counts. I don't want any interpolation, antialiasing etc. when it comes to single-pixel miniature-text in a glass cockpit.

This is what the G2's sweetspot is for.

Whenever you want fine print quality look through the G2s telescope.🤣

My first hmd was a rift s this February. While I enjoyed it I quickly upgraded to a valve index a month later. The graphics are much better. But you need to understand that higher graphics need better GPUs.

i wouldn’t recommend the reverb G2 to anyone because of the very demanding gpu requirements. And the most important thing in vr is a fluid and smooth experience. Better picture but low frame rates will stop you from vr very quickly
