I plan to get a new pc early next year, as soon as GPU availability gets better again. Now my question to you guys having already done so: Is there any reason not to upgrade to v5? Apart from addons that have not been updated to be compatible of course (PMDG 777, Milviz PC6 and others...).Specifically, are there any weird stability or performance issues with v5?Thanks! regards,Raffael I had the same question. I opted to try the Developers version of V5.1 for a month. My month is nearly up and I will be staying with V4.5. I have had issues with severe stuttering on occasions that are unexplained. V4.5 has always been smooth for me. And I could see no performance or visual benefits on my modest (1920x1200) monitor and 2060 Super 8GB video card. David, CYXE
December 21, 20205 yr I have both installed with a bunch of ORBX scenery. I run them with all the sliders maxxed on two monitors at 1920x1200. Honestly, I don't see any pressing reason to go to 5.1 if you're happy with 4.5. The framerate is a bit better (10-15%) and the overall graphics are a bit improved but other than that things are pretty much the same (IMNSHO). All mileage is, of course, variable and this is just one guys input so take it for what it may be worth, or not. P.S. I'm also using a 2060 Super with 8GB Edited December 21, 20205 yr by W2DR Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. December 21, 20205 yr I'm glad this discussion came up. As a simmer who is just exhausted with the endless tweaking, this pretty much has me staying with P3D4.5, everything is working fine, especially with my new GTX1080Ti 11 gig graphics card. December 21, 20205 yr Do you see yourself ever upgrading to v5 over the next couple of years? If so, do it now and see if you like it. It’s not going to get any cheaper. V4 is also not going to get any better. V5 is going to steadily improve, and it’s already a better sim than v4 ever was as long as you’ve got the hardware to run it. Thank you for your usual negativity. Perhaps next time you might think a litle longer before adding you ‘great’ contribution to a thread... Btw : regarding the grainy vid (4K), you might try (better) glasses or it’s time that you buy a new monitor 🧐 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

I thought I knew something about digitals and viewed your settings with some sceptism - I reset P3D V5 with every one of your settings - except for the HDR - which I did find - thankyou - but it was greyed out - probably High Dynamic Resolution wasn't thought of when my 8 year old Samsung TV/monitor came into being. I have tested these with Orbyx Australia V2 over mountain terrain - UK Central T.E. for Liverpool to Blackpool - and Gold Coast Airport and City scape - and I am so surprised - almost to Gobsmacked status - with the change - not only in V5 - but my opinion of it With the exception of the Darkness in patches - eg cockpit - the improvement was specific - and no stutters - or slow downs - and scenery so much improved. Those numbers are now in my filing system and am about to try them on P3D V4 and see what happens Bert - thankyou very much for making an old bloke happy and grateful that I can now make use of the 2 cataract ops I had in the last 5 weeks👴

December 22, 20205 yr I would say the leap between v5.1 and 4.5 is not that significant. Especially if you run with EA off. And even with EA the cloud scapes can be very underwhelming if you use ActiveSky. The cloud popping/morphing is very prominent and spoils the immersion alot. I am not that impressed with LM at all. You can get similar visuals in 4.5 and avoid the horrendous EA colors during dusk/Dawn. This is with ultra resolution clouds 🤣 TomatoShade mops the floor with EA and you are able to control most of the parameters.
