Is there a single plane available that has steam gauges, no gps, but still has nav radios? It would be nice to fly without gps but not completely visual...

One of my favourite aircraft.

Glenn, I’ve been eying this and it’s currently on sale.  What’s been holding me back is that there are other aircraft in the default sim with similar performance profiles etc...wondering if you could say a bit about what makes it one of your favourites?

Partly that I have flown them IRL so it brings back memories 😄

In terms of the package - a mini review:

PRO

- easy to trim for straight and level, very stable - just like IRL the power off stall is a sort of mushy loss of height rather than a wing drop, the real ones are like this as well

- good value package, two airframe/engine variants each with two cockpits plus a stack of different liveries

- package includes a couple of well thought out bush trips

-the 3D modelling is excellent and includes some nice features like doors that open

- the package comes with Photoshop files to allow creating your own liveries if you have Photoshop skills

- the developer is very responsive and generally responds immediately to any questions or issues raised and is continually doing fixes and updates (next one in january)

- like the default 152, really good for circuits but climbs faster than the c152 so quicker

- a well behaved aircraft in the air and generally just fun to fly

MINOR FM ISSUES (these are all known and awaiting an updated SDK to fix)

- still unstable in ground roll especially crosswind and tendency to nose over under excessive brakes, you need to go easy on throttle/brakes and it is generally better to takeoff without flaps, fine once you get used to it but not realistic, it is not a Bearcat or Seafury

- stall at the very edge of the envelope (for example doing an Immelman) is not realistic. Note that the real aircraft is not aerobatic rated and behaviour is realistic under normal flight conditions.

- a reported slight tendency to skid in sustained climb though most people never notice it

OTHER COMMENTS

- whilst the cockpits look great, all the supplied liveries are "brand new straight from the factory", for me personally a slightly world weary livery would be a nice addition

Overall it is just a package I personally like, it still has a few minor issues but they do not really effect my usage and EVERY airicraft on the marketplace has issues, and a big plus is the developer is approachable and continually updating and fixing things.

i tend to mainly fly these for low and slow VFR and the Rob Young Turbo Bonanza when I want something faster.

I had a nice Triumph Spitfire , red, in my garage. I held it until my wife reminded me that each spin around the block cost me $100.00. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

I had a primo GT6+ for several years and taught my wife how to drive a stick shift in it.  I then went to work for Honda corp. and every Honda we owned for the next 10 years was a 5-speed.  Then our oldest daughter reached driving age......  Was no longer a fit...  We currently each have respectively a BMW and a Mini-S, both with paddle shifting and "S" mode.  But the "B" is still a joy to take on excursions.  Mine has a cam, K&N filters, Pertroniz ignition, and OD gearbox.

I used to own a Golf GTI that was a 6 speed manual. When I traded it in for the upgrade to a Golf R last year I opted for the automatic/DSG transmission because it can shift faster than any human and I was getting tired of manually shifting for my daily drive in traffic.

Having said that, I love my Golf R and don’t regret my transmission choice but I definitely miss rowing the gears when I want to go for a fun drive!

Since this is a car thread now, I traded in my 6 speed manual Golf R for a new DSG model in 2018. I also got tired of all that shifting in traffic. And to keep this slightly on topic, while there are good GA planes with analog available for MSFS, there are no liners like the 727 or older 737's and such, and those are what I miss.

This one is in my garage.  IRL. It is still a blast.  Have to thump the tach after I start it to get the needle active.  That bring back any aviation memories?

I had a green MGB back in the 70's. It was a blast and I was lucky to survive it as a teen driver.
