I had been planning on building a button box with several dual rotary encoders and several buttons to control all the functions of the G1000 and GNS530, but this looks like it'll fit the bill even better and cost me about the same in the end from doing it all myself. The author also said that he would order a dual rotary encoder and update the software for those that want that option. Looking forward to it very much. Edited January 10, 20215 yr by Phantoms James

It’s a brilliant price of kit, I can’t speak any more highly of it...!

I ordered the kit today very much looking forward to it myself should hopefully save me monies in the long run by less time in the actual plane. I've got the Thrustmaster Hotas joystick, throttles and rudders this should compliment the whole flight experience hopefully get a trackIR kit in the future.

I’ve had mine roughly ten years and it’s still going strong .
January 10, 20215 yr I've got TrackIR, the Logitech switch panel, Logitech multi panel, Logitech throttle quadrant and a CH F-16 Combat Stick. I've been using FS-FlightControl to handle the radios and other things but didn't have a way of handling the FMS, Scroll, selection buttons, etc. of the G1000 and GNS530. This should fix that and also take over the handling of the radios for me. Then the only thing left is a proper yoke. I've become use to handling the combat stick with my left hand gripping it low and may just forgo a yoke as it works well that way. James
January 10, 20215 yr Asobo really needs to give us a native way to interact with these knobs via controller bindings. Given that they are introducing bugs into the SimConnect API that cause CTDs and leaving it broken for a months at a time between updates (assuming they fix it in the next update), I'm not super enthused to spend a bunch of $$$ on hardware that uses SimConnect right now. The fact that they broke it also means they are not QA testing that interface, so it may break again in the future. I also have no interest in maintaining a house of cards of utilities like FSUIPC, SPAD.Nxt, AxisandOhs, <insert whatever the next paid SimConnect 'shim' utility here that charges us $$$ to use a free API of the simulator>, all of which could have compatibility or security problems later on. A big motivation for me getting into MSFS2020 was the idea that it would be self-contained and not require so many extra tools to do basic things. I can safely say that will never be the case here. I too was hoping for that. Now I open FSUIPC, vjoy, next.spad, navigraph, polot2atc, sim shakers, trackIR apps, just to do a flight.

I love it for driving sims, but i just never liked it in flight sims for whatever reason. January 11, 20215 yr Mobiflight is now providing a WASM module which adds new SimConnect events for the missing Garmin functions - https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/full-g1000-control-now-with-mobiflight/348509 Free download, should allow for anything that allows you to choose custom SimConnect events to fully control the Garmins.
