January 5, 20215 yr Have just received mine and attached using some hook side, peel back stick, Velcro. January 6, 20215 yr I am very interested in this option, but my concern is that when I had a G1 it pressed on the top of my nose uncomfortably - I ended up making a spacer to move the headset further away. January 6, 20215 yr Author Fits just right on the reverb. No issue with comfort and I have no light bleed either. Keith Sandford.
January 8, 20215 yr Commercial Member I 3D printed a replacement gasket for these, and glue-gunned it on top. Works OK. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4700782/comments I will print a wider version and test it too. The regular one is still a bit tight. This looks good and it does seem much more printable without supports. Surely round the magnet posts though it will struggle without supports.I'm very tempted by this. I had no problem whatsoever printing this on my 4 year old DIY printer (Tevo Tarantula kit, modded, heated bed), no supports, columns snapping where they should etc. Will print the wider one too. January 10, 20215 yr It simply allows eye balls to be placed closer to the lens which will increase the fov. The gasket as shipped has too much distance to lens, especially if head shape doesn’t conform to the gasket. A bit less comfort because of thinner padding though... January 16, 20215 yr Thanks for the tip regarding these foam pads! They are available in the US from amazon as well (cheaper when accounting for shipping costs for those of us in the US) : https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B079JW16JC/ref=crt_ewc_title_srh_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AAVL8TAB79CXD I also added these Velcro dots to attach it: https://smile.amazon.com/Alfatex-Supplied-Velcro-Brand-Coins/dp/B081FCVT77/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=velcro&qid=1610818856&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sr=8-8 Those of you already using this, are you using just one of these, or doubling them up? Also, how much cutting/modification did you have to do to accommodate the cord and the front of the head strap? Edited January 16, 20215 yr by shahfly
January 19, 20215 yr I was using a single 22mm thick Vive Pro pad, and although an improvement and soft, I could still push the headset in a little further to gain a tad more FOV. I found a pack of left over bicycle helmet padding inserts which I was able to adapt to fit very easily. They are about 15mm thick and have a valour texture which I find more comfortable than the PU leather material, as it doesn't get hot, cold, feel damp or stick to the skin. My eyelashes are just far enough away from the lenses that they don't touch. I can see the square sides of the screens when looking straight ahead, but not when looking left or right. I've left a gap around the nose area so I can peek out at the keyboard etc. It's an amazing improvement from the stock face insert overall. Apart from the visual gains, the headset now feels so light, it's almost hanging off my head in front of my eyes with only my forehead taking some of the weight. My cheek bones feel almost nothing. The only negative aspect is that I now need the side straps tightened to their maximum, which means it would be too loose for young kids to wear without adding some padding to the rear band. I'm happy to show pics if you want to try something similar. Edited January 19, 20215 yr by dogmanbird
