January 12, 20215 yr Hello everyone, Discussed that problem in another tread but it will be easier to make a new one, I just finished my new setup and running into a wall with FPS, I have a ryzen 5600x, rtx 3070, 32gb ram 3600mhz, ssd and a samsung 49" ultrawide monitor The problem is that I can barely reach 25FPS in 5120x1440 resolution, game mode is on, hardware accelerated GPU on with mfs set to high performance, I even tried to reduce the resolution in 3840x1080 both in windows display setting and in game (which is not the point to spend 1000 euros in a 4k monitor) and I not even gain 10fps by doing that, Monitor refresh rate set to 60 and freesync off I am lost, maybe someone could help me, I think I have a decent computer and when I see a lot of people running the sim In ultra 4k at 40 fps with a lower setup than mine makes me cry :'D I am not really a fps hunter but it would be nice to have at least a constant and smooth 30fps for the price of my config, I was running the exact same settings with my old gtx 1080 and ryzen 1700x on my 24" 1080p monitor and got at least 30fps here's my settings, not even all in ultra, UPDATE : RENDER SCALING is at 80 not 100 and LOD both at 100 Thank you in advance for your help Edited January 12, 20215 yr by dyl55
January 12, 20215 yr I think you need a 3090 to run the game at 5120x1440 resolution, a 3070 has a similar performance as a 2080 Ti, and I doubt I would get better performance with my 2080Ti in that resolution, I get about 45-55 fps at ultra+ at 3440x1440 with dips under 30fps at big busy airports, and that is with GA aircraft. How do you find the 3440x1440 ? Can't see it in game or in windows settings Only 3840x1080 is available in the list, Wouldn't mind playing at 1440 But also as I say even at 3840x1080 I can't reach 30fps 😞

January 12, 20215 yr Try your render scale To around 80. That should give you the equivalent of 4096x1152 = 4.7 million pixels. Bearing in mind 2k is still only 3.6 million pixels. So, definitely 3090 territory at 4K, or thereabouts.

January 12, 20215 yr I would turn off vsync in game as it is broken. Though that is unlikely to effect your FPS. Is your game mainly limited by GPU or main thread ? Also are you using live traffic and weather? Consider dropping building detail to medium as it mainly effects LOD with minimal effect on building detail. Grass and trees mainly effect number rather than quality as well. Volumetric cloud on ultra is a serious FPS killer. Do you really need depth of field enabled?
January 12, 20215 yr Before you go messing around with the settings of the sim i would recommend that your system is set up properly from the PC BIOS/OS/DRIVER levels first then download and run a few benchmarks. Make sure that your benchmark scores are in the ballpark for what your specs are and if they are in the ballpark then you can start fiddling with sim settings. BIOS Considering you are using a RYZEN 5000 series processor i would recommend a bios update considering just last week AMD released an AGESA update that was pretty consequential to those cpus 1.1.9.0 (if not yet available for your motherboard .. skip) Make sure that you are NOT inadvertently doing an all core overclock (OC) . Some motherboard manufacturers have 1 click OC settings that do this but it doesn't tell the end user that with an all core OC you lose single core performance boost overdrive (PBO) which is able to boost single core much higher than the all core OC. Ensure you have PBO enabled Ensure your memory's XMP or DOCP is enabled and the timings are what they are supposed to be. OS (Windows) I recommend a clean install of the OS then install all updates but that may not be possible so move on if you cant. Install the latest chipset drivers from AMD!! Game mode on / Assign the sim to performance under the graphics performance preference section in the windows search box type in "choose a power plan" If you had properly installed the AMD chipset drivers then you will see two AMD labelled power plans in the list. Select the maximum performance one. DRIVER Im not home to give the graphics driver version but i do not upgrade drivers with every released version. However my settings are application default for pretty much everything with the exception of power in the driver settings. (I also make sure i DO NOT install nvidia experience) For the people who know how it works great. For people who are new or do not want to go in depth with setting it up properly its not worth the headache and could be the very cause of your issues depending on what it may have changed. Run some benchmarks (heaven, 3DMark timespy and compare) If your numbers and results are comparable and similar to your specs then you can move to the sim knowing the hardware isnt the issue. As for the sim here are my specs I am on a 34 inch ultrawide so the resolution is 3440x1440p with a RTX 2080 super AMD Ryzen 3700x / 32gb ram @3600 cas 16 / 512/1TB Nvme for OS/Storage serviced on top of an Asus Rog Strix B550 Gaming WIFI F mainboard. I sit in the high thirties to low forties in the Airbus A320 default AC with the sim resolution native to my monitor 3440/1440p and the sim set to stock ultra. For me the sim will drop to the low twenties in the major airports like KJFK but for the most part i am happy. I would suggest you spend the time to completely go over your hardware to make sure its all configured correctly and you're getting what you paid for. If everything is working then there is a possibility you may have bitten off more than you can chew with the 40 50 inch ultra wide. I dont have one so i really cant say definitively thats the issue but as two people have stated thats alot of pixels to push. Edit: yeah bro.. I thought you had a 40 inch ultra wide but no its a 50 inch ultra-wide on the equivalent of a 2080ti level card.. that's a hard no.. too many pixels to push. Bottom line .. everything has to be in balance and within reason. I personally would not be trying to run the sim on a monitor that large without an RTX3090/6800xt (strix/red devil) and a 5900x Oh also i took a look at one of the pics in the thread. Vsync in the sim is to be off.. if you're going to use vsync/gsync do it on the driver level not within the sim. Sorry for the long post. Hope it was somewhat helpful. Cheers 😮 thank you very much for taking time for such a long text, I did follow everything, updated my bios, install amd driver, clean windows install, remove geforce experience,... And now I can reach between 28 and 32 fps where I was 22 yesterday which I guess isn't bad at all for that resolution with a 3070, I really like my 49" monitors so I'll wait and save money for a 3090 but at least for now is flyable and enjoyable 😄 The only point I find weird is no matter the resolution, I do not really see a difference, I've tried to make a custom resolution of 3440x1440 in Nvidia CP and put this resolution in sim as well but I barely gain 5fps, same with 3840x1080, is that normal ? Thank you very much everyone I appreciate

If you leave the game in full screen mode i think the options to change game resolutions is greyed out. If you change the resolution from the driver settings i think that would throw off more things than you would like. So put the driver/windows resolution back to default/native Then try changing the sim to windowed mode and see if you can change the resolution option within the sim. LMK how it turns out. Glad you were able to get a few more frames out of the sim from double checking and cleaning up the platform. Cheers.
