FBW A320 Loc/ILS Capture

Featured Replies

Does anyone else notice that you cannot arm the LOC or APP correctly w/AP on?  I find that anytime I try to arm for an intercept, the plane will try to turn immediately rather than keeping the current heading until capturing the localizer.  I almost have to time it perfectly to press LOC or APP.  Is this a known issue?   Almost every time, I have to disengage the AP, turn back to the course I was on and right as the localizer starts to move, turn on LOC or APP.  Does this plan on being fixed?

Yes.  ILS/LOC is wonky on the FBW version.  I reverted back to the Developers version due to this issue.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

I have this issue on all versions; stable, dev, custom FBW.  Will this be fixed soon?

No, it works perfectly for me, and from the videos I have seen, also for a lot of others. Are you using the latest version? The only problem with the latest version is, on a CAT3 just before touchdown the aircraft dives for the runway. This can be mitigated by disconecting the AP just before crossing the threshhold.

This has been similar issue on all versions for me (it doesn't happen all the times), it is somewhat inherited from the default Asobo crappy AP. Let's wait for the custom AP to come to solve this issue

I use the Dev. Version and until jet i did not see this Issue, means works fine for me.

Have to say that i use the last Dev. Version because the Installer says my Dev. could be updated but i am pretty happy with this one so i wait to do an Update.

Latest FBW/Dev version for me.  I haven't experienced the CAT3 issues you mentioned.  However, I haven't encountered a situation where i needed to do a CaT3

  1. Set flight model to modern, not legacy.
  2. Set all assists settings to Hard/True to Life. (for sure landing assists and never set to easy !!)
  3. Turn off AI Copilot control assists.

Have you done the four golden rules of housekeeping in MSFS?

  1. Set flight model to modern, not legacy.
  2. Set all assists settings to Hard/True to Life. (for sure landing assists !!)
  3. Turn off AI Copilot control assists.
  4. Add deadzones to your control axis. At least 5% for each of the axis.

1-3 yes.  As for the deadzones, I have them at 1% per this video:

Dead zones should be >10% as per FBW team

I did not know this.  Where did they say that?  Is that for aileron only or pitch and rudders as well?

Mine are on 15%, there was a Thread in Flightsimulatorforum ( can`t find it at the moment ) there was this discussed, they said if the Deadzone is to small it gives back some signals

and than you can get some problems with AP and avionics.

Cool.  I'll give that a try.  Thanks!

I had the opposite issue, when landing it seemed to act like it had captured the glide slope (hence plane suddenly changed angle dipped and then leveled off), but it never descended to the runway after that. Hence, it was about 500 feet too high as it approached the initial TD zone.
