December 17, 200619 yr Well, I love FSX and am not planning to return to FS9 (it seems like going from FS2004 back to FS2002), But, there are a few things I do miss from past versions:1. The Ford Trimotor2. The Curtis "Jenny"3. FSNAV4. AOM5. ALl the FS2002 aircraft that I never got to work in FS2004, and all the FS2004 aircraft that probably wont work is FSX (LOL)(I plan to be sparing with the add ons this time-my wish list is pretty simple I just want a good version of:1. Lockheed Constellation2. Douglas DC4 and DC63. Cessna 3104. Gruman G5I have never really added scenery or airports or whatnot>I believe the one thing I miss most that is no longer>available is FSNAV. I confess I have been spoiled rotten. I>sure hope those who developed this fine addon will change>their mind about FSX, or somebody else comes up with an equal.>Sure is a hassle to me to quickly find a waypoint, airport,>frequency or originate/modify a flight plan.>>I install a number of addon's to my panels for virtually all>aircraft. I had to remember that fsuipc is required by many of>them. (i.e. RunwayInfo, RKG Speed, RKG FuelStat, Third party>toggles etc. Among these adders, I miss a good timer. In all>of my panels for FS9 I installed the DFRG_Timer. Unfortunately>it goes back to the FS98 days and is not accpetable for FSX.>If anybody knows a good generic replacement for this item, I>would appreciate a heads up on it.>>I am not addicted to it quite as much as some others have>mentioned, but Active Camera is a loss.>>What do you miss?>Happy Flying:>RTH
December 17, 200619 yr sing the following to the tune of "raindrops keep falling on my head."Raindrops not falling on my glass, in the vc I no longer see the bloomin' rain, it just isn' there. If I go right over to FSX I'll also miss my co-pilot (FSHS), a huge chunk of scenery till it's re-done (Emma Field, Orcas I., British Airports, Visualflight London (which includes the Thames Barrier, come on ACES how did you miss that 2 versions runnin' when it was there in FS2002?)
December 17, 200619 yr Let me first say: I love FSX and don't in general feel it misses much from FS9.Anyway, it feels strange and shallow to say it; But one thing I miss is the visible raindrops on the wind shield...
December 17, 200619 yr ai trafficno matter how i set it, no matter where i am (lax, seatac, etc) i have yet to see even one other aircraft in fsx.i have cars on the roads, boats on the water, but no other aircraft or airport vehicles.otter

If you own the FS9 version then you get a hefty discount and the updated version for FS9. Makes a world of difference to me. I'm missing some things that were in FS9, just as in Sept. 2003 I was missing some things from FS2002 until they were patched or redone. I'm enjoying both sims side by side, and I'm having a little patience. For a GA pilot like myself, there are already plenty of add-on aircraft for FSX, and I still have my FS9 installation with GB's of great add ons.
December 17, 200619 yr in fs9 i had tons of ai aircraft with no addonsin fsx i have zero ai aircraft no matter how i set it upotter
December 18, 200619 yr For FSNav fans....a few more months to wait until the FSX version is out.-------------------- The present version 4.7 of FSNavigator is for now the endpoint of a development that started with Flight Simulator 98. The same concept was kept through all versions, with continuous adaptations as necessary. Since Flight Simulator kept developing further, FSNavigator and Flight Simulator have not, for some time, worked together harmoniously any more. It has therefore become necessary to rebuild FSNavigator completely. This means not only adding new functions, but also removing functions that have become obsolete. What will remain?FSNavigator will remain an integrated DLL program with docked and undocked window. It will be able to be called up from the Flight Simulator Startup dialog box. The F9 key will be replaced by the 0 key. Map and Flight Planner will remain in improved form. Now you can make your wishes known! What should absolutely be kept in FSNavigator, what might as well be removed, and which functions should be added? Write a short e-mail to [email protected]: * The present version FSNavigator 4.7 is not compatible with FSX. * FSNavigator version 5 is being developed, and is expected to be available mid-2007. * For owners of FSNavigator 4.x there will be no upgrade to version 5. * FSNavigator 5 will be introduced at a low price. December 18, 200619 yr Lets see....Just did MMMX at night to Quito at dawn in default 321.eh....does stunning cover it?Breathtaking with AS6 allowing flight between two cloud layers at sunrise?Had just watched a terrific natuaral history programme on TV, that had view of Quito from mountains....then did this flight. FSFX really gets it very close on approach.Take off from Quito and banking over Andes turbulance effects puke bucket level! No, not frame rate issues, just whole sense of bumping and shaking felt in real world passenger view flights. You know when the wings flex and passengers panic sure that wing will break!Oh yes what do I miss from Fs9? Not having to find Disk 4. Does that count?
December 18, 200619 yr I cannot understand this.I have basic P2.4 system, and have AI as much as I want.Indeed, was 'jumped' last week on approach by a 737 flying over me by about 200ft that scared the bejasus out of me on approach to landing from 4 miles out!FPS means I keep my AI settings to around 10-15%, but I do see them!
December 20, 200619 yr Tony Ambriso's gauges.I finally settled in on my personal edited two or four engine jet panels in FS9. I implemented Tony's gauges. I don't know how far back Tony's gauges go, but I have used them for years with great pleasure. Thanks Tony. For all of the aircraft I would like to import into FSX that use these, unfortunately they do not play. Such is progress I guess.Happy Flying:RTH
December 22, 200619 yr >Wasnt there an early version (pre 1991) where you could>"create" or "modify" your airplane in the area of wing span,>power, and surface area?Microsoft Aircraft and Scenery Designer for FS4 :)The second pic here will probably bring back some memories:http://fshistory.simflight.com/fsvault/msfs4.htmInstalling the A&SD changed the default startup to a 737 at Sea-Tac. I remember creating my own airport about 10 miles west of Meigs. FS4 brings back some of my fondest FS memories... and it ran just fine on my 286 :)Paul
December 22, 200619 yr So do I.I also miss: the Land Me feature (from FS98) and the view options dialog.
