December 7, 200619 yr >Hello>So you have some lakes back, thats great but dont you miss all>the nice addons you had in FS9, i mean default aircraft dont>do it for me and lots of other folk.>I applaud you for being the last man still standing, throwing>punches in defence of this rushed sim .>The rest of us are over in the FS9 forum>See you soon :-)I don't miss them, as I still have a very much installed FS9. In the meantime some default FSX aircraft, such as the Goose, Maule, Lear, Airbus, and Cessna Caravan get me around. They're quite an improvement over their FS9 counterparts. But I'll be most content, when I get a revised for FSX, RealAir SF260. Then throw in the DF Baron, the RealAir Spit, the new RealAir twin, a couple of Carenados, and a biz jet or two.FSX may be rushed, but it's still the best representation of flight, that I've ever seen in a desk top sim! And besides, I'm not the only one that thinks so! :D L.Adamson
December 7, 200619 yr Most of the aircraft I used in FS9 work in FSX, and for the big iron, well, with the GMax SDK just around the corner, I'll bet most of those aircraft will be updated within a matter of a few weeks (ATR) to probably January/February for others.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
December 7, 200619 yr >Dang, beat me to it :-lol>Which was "fps"...Yet, last evening, I drove my heavy addon laden FS9, which usually runs in the 30's to mid 50's down to 19fps with a simulated night flight. The same flight in FSX, while missing the cartoon auto-gen houses, but with much crisper and better looking night lights, hummed along in the mid 20's with a smooth and fluid look. Of course we can get addons for increasing the brightness of the stock FS9 city night lights, but you'll never get the focused crsipness that's possible in FSX. FS9 just isn't capable with it's lower resolution platform. I find FSX to be rather stunning as I descend over the city on approach. Doing the same in FS9 becomes a disappointment, after a month with FSX! :-hah L.Adamson
December 7, 200619 yr Well you sure are the FSX happy man! I've tried the Autogenless FSX and whilst it looks OK from altitude, it looks way too flat below a couple of thousand feet. Autogen actually looks very good with FS9 and has neglible performance impact. FSX autogenless scenery spins me back to Flight Unlimited II era of 2D-like satellite imagery. And coming in over a city on approach in FSX more resembles a slide show right now rather than a breath taking flight simulator experience. Surely we have come a lot further in six or so years.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
December 7, 200619 yr i don't miss anything cause i'm still using the past version.:-lol I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
December 7, 200619 yr I would like back the static when ATIS was just coming into range. That was a nice touch.
December 7, 200619 yr yep...got things "set up", and life is good FSX wise. Flying into Seattle...nope. NYC...nope (and I'm sure a few other places).Fly most else, good. Heli ops are much better now. Balance of autogen and clear scenery makes FSX a jewel. I know I griped about FSX at first, but it grows on ya! :)I fly out of Hillsboro Oregon. Pretty good from here:E6600 Core 2 DuoAsus P5B Deluxe4 Gigs fast memoryNvidia 7900 512mb vid cardLots and lots of Raid0 driveNo Tweaks, No OverclockCheers,btPS...I still fly FS9 most of the time
December 7, 200619 yr Larry, I couldn't agree more. For me FSX is the best flight sim I've used, ever. I'm still amazed by those crisp, high resolution textures. The new England & Wales VFR scenery for FSX is absolutely stunning and it runs beautifully. I just deleted FS9 to make more reoom for it.And to answer the question: no, for me there's nothing significant that's missing compared to FS9. Quite the reverse - FSX has many new features that were missing in FS9 such as mouse look, mouse as yoke and the new vastly enhanced view system including flyby views.Best regards, Chris
December 7, 200619 yr The nice/more realistic looking snow and the raindrops on the wind shield.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
December 7, 200619 yr Jim:Just out of curiosity, have you installed UT in FSX? I haven't checked your specific river, but it sure did improve the waters of WV.Respectfully:RTH
December 7, 200619 yr Hello L.Adamson:For what it is worth, installation of some of the "Carenados" and their flight works like a charm as is in FSX. If you haven't yet, I would respectfully suggest you give them a shot.Happy flying:RTH
