I would love to see an instant replay implemented. For me, it's not only watching with pride the occasional greasers, but instant replay also helps me to see what went wrong on the botched approaches as well.

I was thinking the same. I wonder if aircraft with no cockpit is really becoming the preferred way to fly for the masses. Time will tell.

If the developers are so hung up on warbirds without a flyable cockpit why don't they make a drone?!

Will not purchase. It looks nice but I'm not into warplanes and I will only fly aircraft with a VC.

Thank you Tom for a great interview. You have successfully touched on all of the pressing questions from the community. I think FLIGHT has many engaging and immersive features and I am enjoying it for what it currently offers. That said, I was also holding out hope that FLIGHT would slowly morph into an advanced platform with most of the bells and whistles found in our beloved FSX. I am sad to hear the development team has confirmed that will not be the direction this title will be going.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago and to my son tonight. Very annoying. My missions and challenges were reset but I retained my experience points and paint schemes. Not looking forward to a redo on everything else.

For what it's worth, you won't have to download the content twice but you will have to pay for it twice. I know, I've done it so my son can use Flight DLC with his Gamertag.

That's how I do it as well. Notice the point on the glareshield where the centerline intersects. Turning is another trick. I try to visualize where the nosewheel is in relation to the line. Might not be the correct way but it works well for me 90% of the time. I believe it's just getting a feel for the aircraft over time.

Thank you for the feedback, that's good to know. I registered with the site to post this question on their forum but I never received the "activated" email. It's been almost 8 hours now. When I try to log in it tells me my info is incorrect. If I try to re-register it tells me that username and email is already in use. Strange.

Thanks fb,Yes, I am putting FSX, SP1, SP2 on, MyTrafficX and the Eaglesoft CJ1. I have chosen a setting in MyTrafficX that disables the default FSX air traffic. It relables trafficAircraft.bgl.passive to disable it so that is not an issue for me. I have checked the folder and it has correctly relabled it. I do not see any default aircraft as I fly. I have tried the sim with shadows disabled and enabled. Both have produced mixed results. First flights gave me success (no graphic problems or black screens). Subsequent flights produced black screens or graphic problems. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. John

Bob - I don't have DX10 preview on, I do have both SPs installed and yes the a/c match SP2. Thanks for your attempt though.Joe - Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have aircraft cast shadows on self. I have even tried it by unchecking aircraft casts shadow on ground. Still the same result. I have noticed that I now run a 50% chance of this occuring. The screen will go black when I make a selection from the menus (ie change time of day, view instant replay, save flight, etc.) but only after I've been flying for a while. On the flights that have this happen, I have noticed a decrease in frame rates (35 down to 19 or so). It doesn't ever seem to do it with the default a/c, only payware. My computer is less than a year old, a quad core, 8 Mb RAM, and an Nvidia 9800GT 1Gb. My sliders are not maxed out, especially not air traffic - 40% max. I do not have nHancer running.I appreciate everyone who has offered suggestions. John

Not sure where to find the dll.xml file or how to check it. Sorry.It has been suggested on the Eaglesoft forum that it may be the 64 Bit drivers not liking something on my system. The second computer that I loaded FSX/MyTrafficX/CJ1 for additional testing was ALSO a Vista 64 Bit system. That system of course produced the same problems for me. I have tried at least 5 different drivers over the past 2 weeks trying to solve this problem. If it is the drivers, what are my options? Attached is a pic that shows what could happen when I try to select Instant Replay or Save or even switch to windowed mode and back to full mode.

Thanks for the response Dale. I was using nHancer but uninstalled it when the problem first started to see if would make a difference. The problem remained even with nHancer uninstalled and using the Nvidia control panel. I have left nHancer uninstalled for now until I can sort this out. John

I have posted a problem last week regarding missing textures and menu selections causing flashing screens and lock ups. The problems seem to happen only when landing! After exhaustive experimenting I have determined that the problem ONLY occurs when I use the Eaglesoft CJ1 and have MyTrafficX installed - not just active. I had formated the partitioned drive that FSX was on, manually deleted any FSX files left over on other sections of my system, ran a registry cleaner then did a step by step reinstall . I discovered that when CJ1 was installed without MyTrafficX it was fine. Once I installed MyTrafficX the problem occured consistently. It did not happen with the default aircraft as I earlier suspected. If I deactivated MyTrafficX from the Scenery Library menu I STILL get the problems. If I uninstalled MyTrafficX the CJ1 and FSX run fine. In addition, I have tried 5 different video drivers (running Driver Sweeper in between each change) and still had the same problem with the CJ1 and MyTrafficX. Next I took it a step further and installed FSX on a system that had never had Flight Sim on it before. I installed just FSX, my registered version of FSUIPC, the CJ1 and MyTrafficX. Same problems. Missing graphic textures and screen lock ups when accessing menu functions (instant replay, save flight, etc.). Just for kicks I moved the MyTrafficX folder from the FSX folder to the root drive. Tried again and, like magic, no problems. This, of course, also eliminates all my traffic. Attempting to reactive/relink MyTrafficX in Scenery Library does not work. There obviously are some files missing or needed still in the FSX folders. When I moved the MyTrafficX folder back into FSX I had traffic back but the problems returned again. Lastly I threw caution to the wind and purchased the Eaglesoft Citation X for FSX thinking maybe it's just the CJ1. Sadly, after the first flight the same problems occur. I know this: It is not the drivers - I've tried several. It is not my system - I've tried it on another fresh system. It ONLY happens with the CJ1 (and now the CitationX), in other words, the default planes are the only ones that work fine. It ONLY happens when MyTrafficX is installed. Weird! If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I'd appreciate it. I will also post this in the MyTrafficX forum and Eaglesoft forum as well. I really like the CJ1 and would like to fly it but if I can not solve this mystery I will be asking Flight1 for a refund for these aircraft. Thank you for reading. David,Thank you for your reponse. I did run a registry cleaner after the uninstall but did not actually search for any rogue fsx files. However, that being said, when I reinstalled fsx and ran it for the first time it gave me the new welcome to flight sim screen and all of my settings were reset to the low setting, default initial load. Wouldn't that mean that somehow the fsx.cfg file was deleted and was now being recreated? John

UPDATE: Unchecking FSUIPC stopped the annoying reloading. Thank you JimI still have the remaining problem of graphics going screwy when landing. My test flight ended in Van Nuys where the runway had turn off markings but no centerline. As soon as I turned off all the buildings on the airport property blinked once then disappeared. The aircraft were all still there, just no more buildings! When I tried to go into windowed mode FSX went black. Trying to go into full screen made my screen strobe black and white. I could still hear the sim running though. <sigh> Will keep trying. Anyone, anyone, Beuller, anyone?

Jim, I DO have a registered version of FSUIPC and is IS checked to Keep FS clock sync'd. I will uncheck it and run a couple of test runs. Thank you!!!Regards,John

Thanks for the reply Jim. I have done a complete uninstall/resinstall of FSX and all associated add ons. Would that have erased my FSX.cfg during the uninstall? I can try to rebuild it and see if it helps. Also I have defragged using Vista defrag (Boo! I know) right after I did the reinstall of FSX and SP1/2. I have also had TrafficX rename the default AI to turn it off. You have some good leads for me, some I have already tried, others I can investigate. I appreciate your help. Regards,John

Hello all!I have recently been experiencing a strange problem with fsx and my search over several forums/websites have proven fruitless so I'm hoping someone here might be of help.After choosing my aircraft, location, time of day, etc. I choose FLY NOW and see the traditional loading bar. Within a minute or so my aircraft sits happily placed and ready for its flight. But strangely enough after several more seconds (and this can vary 5-30 secs) the sim goes to black screen and I get the loading status bar for the traffic (cars, boats, aircraft) AGAIN and then delivers me back into the sim. I have made no changes to the traffic or time of day at all. Weird. It does it with any aircraft, any location, but only 80% or so of the time. In addition, it may (or may not) reload the same items - traffic - into the sim during the flight itself. Again, I haven't changed a thing. I'm just minding my business enjoying the scenery out the window and BAM - black screen with a loading bar for traffic. Once it loads I am returned to my flight. No harm, no foul but extremely annoying, especially if it happens when on a challenging approach. Now for the topping on the cake. Sometimes, not all, when I land I see strange graphic anomolies such as vehicles with no bodies (just tires) or a plane with just the interior (no wings or wheels). When that occurs I am not able to save a flight or watch instant replay or even change views without my screen going completely black or strobing. I can still hear the sounds of FSX running but my graphics dump. Changing from full screen to windowed mode doesn't help at all. I have to shut the sim down completly. Nothing gets my picture back. The problem has occured once or twice in the past couple of years but I wrote it off as a fluke. In the past couple of weeks it has occured almost 80% of the time. It almost seemed to have started when I purchased Eagleflights CJ1 and installed it. But the problems occur with any aircraft. As for the essentials I run:Vista 64AMD Phenom 9650 Quad 2.3 GHz8 Gb RAMNVidia 9800 GT with latest drivers (190.62). Have also tried original drivers that came with the card (178.24) and just about everything in between. I run Driver Sweep in when clearing out a driver. Traffic XUTX - USA & CanadaGround Environment XASARadar ContactFSX sliders for aircraft traffic - 35%, car traffic - 15%, airport vehicles - lowI have done a complete uninstall/format/reinstall of all FSX programs on the partitioned drive. No change. :( Does anyone have any ideas? This is maddening. :( Mostly because it never really happened before and now happens a good portion of my flights.
