Missions, challenges, etc. were reset on my account? wtf

Featured Replies

This morning Flight was fine but this afternoon I went to start it up again to do some more challenges, etc. and when I clicked 'Play' it took me straight to the first mission (balloons) and then to the second mission (yacht water landing). I couldn't exit out of them to the map so I finished them again to see ##### it was doing. When I got back to the map after finishing them I still had my DLC (thankfully) but all the missions, challenges, aerocaches were reset. I hope this gets rectified because I spent a good amount of time doing the missions, challenges, aerocaches. It still has all my stats though, because when I landed on the water by the yacht I got the 100 landings award and a new paint scheme.

Who knows what happened....maybe a MS Flight server issue. Sorry to hear you lost all that, though.

I don't think that has anything to do with the server. . .

Hmm...Well I didn't do anything that would mess them up locally. I still have all the awards and paint schemes associated with passing the missions and challenges but for some reason on the mission and challenges lists they are reset. Maybe something got messed up when communicating with Flight servers? Really annoying.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago and to my son tonight. Very annoying. My missions and challenges were reset but I retained my experience points and paint schemes. Not looking forward to a redo on everything else.

Did you do any spelunking into the Config files? Might be some kind of anti-cheating security measure you tripped by accident.

Most of my pilot record got blown out when reinstalling Flight last weekend, stuff like how many landings and how many different airport's I'd landed at disappeared for example (but, oddly, not how many crashes), which is a bit of a bizarre thing.Al

Hi FolksHummusLord -FLIGHT stores the various parameters for your Pilot Profileacross 10 different career#.bin data files. What'll have happened isthe career#.bin file which that subset of data was stored inwill have become corrupted for some reason, and a new file will have been created.HTHATBPaul

Tell me how!!!! I want to corrupt mine :-) - sorry - I would really like to erase all of the messy flights I have done and restart from the very beginning ....

Hi Folksjcomm -AIUI - The only way to restart with a fully clean record, would be to sign up with a new LIVE profile.Otherwise all your online profile data will be reimported.See your data at - Microsoft FLIGHT - My Flight Statisticsand I'd guess those are the very aspects you'd like to wipe.Do you still wish to lose your mission rewards and challenge scores ?HTHATBPaul

So knowing this, would it be safe to say it might be a good idea to backup these career#.bin files from time to time to have just in case this happens?I guess it would be hard to know which one got corrupted at that time, but all 10 of those backed up could be restored and maybe get that data back?

The only time I spelunked into any config file was to change the joystick null zone and sensitivity and that was a few days after Flight was downloaded.

Too much of a chore for something that shouldn't happen in the first place. What needs to happen is some sort of syncing between what awards, etc. have been given and what has been ticked off in the mission and challenges list. e.g., I have the photo album award but the mission list says I haven't passed the mission to get it. Same with all the other awards and paint schemes, etc.
