Validate??

Featured Replies

When I have completed a flight & hit Esc key to go back through the  screens, the menu options along the bottom of the first screen going back includes 'Validate'.

What does that do?

T45

Dunno, clicked it before and never seen any change

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

At any rate, wherever you see "validate", it's supposed to mean "confirm". "Confirm" is "valider" in French, which is a "false friend" for "validate".

Dont pay any attention to that, your already validated to run the sim. "Validate" is just something that floats around from time to time to time. Maybe some day when ASOBO gets bored they will clean it up.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

Don't click on 'validate'! It's a trick!

Ummmmmm, Curiouser and curiouser. . .

Like others here, I too have pressed the Validate key and observed no immediate obvious effect as a consequence.

Pray, what might be the true purpose of the key we have been pressing with such reckless abandon, the consequences of which are, as of now; UNKNOWN?. . .

Validate can be an elusive thing. For instance when you hit Escape to exit the sim, the Validate key will show for a few seconds and disappear. It's basically saying  hit the ENTER or RETURN key, depending on your keyboard to accept the option. I think it shows up too for a few seconds when you make changes to the options areas, turning stuff on or off? Basically, it's telling you to accept the option shown most of the time. Of course you can also just click it with the mouse. I use Validate all the time when closing the sim out, by hitting the ENTER key. I just don't pay attention anymore. And sometimes it does NOTHING at all that I can tell.

But it is just weird most of the time! Like @Fielder said, more than anything it appears to be a trick 🙂 I think they are just screwing with us!

Would be funny that when I am hitting the Vaildate key I am turning someone's lights OFF and ON 🙂 Maybe even at Asobo?

Like this you mean?😁

"Validate" is just "confirm", using a different word. I'm guessing it's just some legacy button which hasn't been fully removed or hidden during development. A bit like the Cheshire Cat, it's there one minute, gone the next!
