March 27, 20215 yr Just saw that since the hotfix my GPU constantly runs between 95 and 100 percent load while the CPU chills at 25. Sim runs smooth @4k ultra but I'm afraid running it at constantly high loads will harm the GPU in the long term. March 27, 20215 yr I dont see that at all. If you run unlimited FPS your always cpu limited. I limited my FPS to 31 RTSS and up graphics and render scale, so cpu core thats used the most runs at 80% gpu 70%-80%. Unlimited at KIAD I get 54 FPS but I have to fix fps below 35 to drop main cpu from being caped out(100%) I have no idea how you get your main cpu @ 25 and gpu maxed out. Today in the CRJ I sat at a gate KIAD and had dev mode open. nothing I did got be away from 26fps, main core cpu limited even when I put renderscale to 200 I was still cpu limited and I still had 26fps, totaly given up on the CRJ after this morning. Its just a cpu main core thrasher. With the CJ4 wt same place I can blance cpu and GPU with these settings. The cpu here was low becasue I was in setting. You need to target cpu to around 80% and balance your GPU, its impossable for me to have a cpu at 20 and GPU maxed out, I tried and got FPS locked at 10 to get cpu down to 20%. David Murden. One core could be very high and the others much lower given a total load that is low like 25%. Whatever core your MSFS main thread is running on is likely much higher than that. If you are running 4K ultra then change nothing and enjoy! Your GPU will be fine. You paid for its power why not utilize it? As long as it isn't running too hot, like 90C or more.

I was just wondering and a bit concerned because the GPU load was much higher than two days before. Temperatures are around 75-80 degrees. March 27, 20215 yr I would say that the high GPU load is a good thing, its being well utilized. Only concern would be temps and it sounds like you are okay on that.

GPU: RTX3080 CPU: i9-9900k What is the point of buying a high-end GPU and run it as a low-end card? Your GPU is made to operate at 100% in games, which is the power limit set by the manufacturer for your card to run safe, but that limit can be exceeded by the user, it is called overclocking. March 27, 20215 yr It's hard to say, alot of it depends on what I limit the frames at that determines my GPU load and temp. Since launch it's been GPU heavy. I use to worry about my 1070ti constantly hitting 70c on high settings. My 2080S runs about 65-70c (mostly Ultra) If limit frames to 45-50. I never said to do that. I was just wondering because i never had my GPU running at that load even on AAA Games like Red Dead 2 or Cyberpunk. You should always load as much graphical settings as your GPU can handle, in that way you relieve work for your CPU that will come in better use in more complex areas. March 27, 20215 yr My GPU load is very high, pretty much maxed out (8Gb RX480), but it's stable for all that. I guess the sim is just using what it can because I have all the settings on very high in MSFS with a lot of them on Ultra. CPU not much doing. MSFS never CTDs, I'm one of the lucky ones who never has a problem with it. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
