Best quality small jet?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Ordinarily, I prefer low and slow GA aircraft. However, because I fly in VR, I’m having to use reprojection to bolster frame rates and the propeller artefacts that this causes are terrible, and a real distraction. I find myself trying to look anywhere but forward at the broken, kaleidoscope view.  I cannot fly like this anymore. I’ve tried to use the propeller mod but, for whatever reason, MSFS is refusing to integrate it into the sim. So that leaves me with the only option left is to lose the prop. So, jets.........

Looking for the best, small jet. Either freeware or payware.  Needs to be fairly fps friendly, with a great flight model, and pleasing to the eye.  Would prefer something that is fairly accurate to its real-life counterpart, not one that has been dumbed down. Anything worth adding to the shortlist?

An interesting question. There are also some training jets , for instance the 339 and T-45 Goshaw. I wonder how they compare to the jewel that the Lotus L-39 was in FSX and P3D  ?

Thanks for the suggestion of the CJ4. Alas, it is much too big. I should have been more specific. Ideally, a single seater, or, at a push, a 2-seater trainer.

There's a few pushers about which would presumably alleviate your prop visuals issue, such as the Long EZ and the Aerolite 103. Other than that, you're looking at all those jet trainers.

Thanks @Chock.  I’ll instantly disclude the 103, as I read some very unflattering things about it when I was searching for a microlight. I ended up with the Powersolo VGP which is great. Except for the prop 😂. I’ll look into the Long EZ, as that is a new one on me.

It's a love it or hate it aeroplane, since it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, but some people like the way it looks. although if you are a John Denver fan, it should probably be avoided.

Just watched a video review for it. Well, it’s certainly different 😳. To be honest, I quite like quirky aircraft. Unfortunately, what I took from the video, was that is was a long way from representative of the real thing.  And that’s quite important to me. Having said that, the VGP that I fly, and enjoy, is pure fantasy. But hey, I was desperate for a microlight 😂.  The John Denver connection I didn’t know. Not the greatest advert for a plane is it? 😲

The litmus test of a good sim jet, IMHO, is not canyon antics but the approach and landing. The jet needs to be slippery and the stall speed a tad too fast for your comfort 😄.

Defintely the WT CJ4:

The CJ4 is quite small.  I like Dino's MB339 but that's probably larger than the CJ.

Thanks each. I like the look of the 339. It seems to have been fairly well received, and has just had a huge makeover. Looks mighty tempting.

339 gets my vote. Easy and forgiving to fly. Low stall speed so you can fly slow if you want. Looks great. Excellent visibility so it would be great for VR I think.
