They promised us already longtime Weather Force as a free update to Skyforce which would solve everything.

Now with Msfs released it suddenly doesn’t exist for Prepar3d anymore.

The installer business is a mess, yes!. I found it would not install with the installer on the purchase.  I purchased anew and did not bother with finding the old installation etc because the sim site in OZ that I bought it from went out of business some time ago and for 35 dollars I could not be bothered with the hassle of chasing up all the old details etc etc. To be honest I have always found REX to be a bit confusing as to what product does what over the years, bought quite a few and in the end just stuck with Rex Essentials as it was then called. 

So, then I went back to the REX website and checked the page about the V5 update, it was not clear but I downloaded the installer again as per that pages advice. I also sent them a complaint about this problem as well. The second installer downloaded ok. I then ran the installer again, it still did not list V5 but pointing it to V5 via the browse function did it it was accepted  and it then installed correctly and appears correctly as addon in the sim as well. A check of the version on the REX menu GUI confirms it is now the version updated for V5. Now that was as clear as mud I know but I guess REX will fix it - seems they got a bit excited releasing the update but did not update the built in installer or manual first. 

Absolutely no issues with operation in V5 so far after installing my Themes. It brings up current weather on the GUI promptly and correctly and in sim on the little addon without issues. Message bar does not interfere with sim at all. I need to now hunt for some seriously bad weather here and there about the globe and see how it goes. Some screenshots on another forum of a user with REX and V5 indicates a good outcome. 

My view is as long as that repeated pattern affect  with clouds in True Sky goes away and I get a more realistic sunrise and sunset hues with light changes, then I am happy. I think the 3D cloud modelling is the way to go and is not all that different to the way P3D's True Sky works anyway.

Works for me - could you check the Options/General page and ensure you have your simulator main folder selected and activated ?

What I dont like it,  from few yers they closed his forum. Now we can only submitt the tickek and cant check answers, tips ect from other users. Pity.

Btw. I dont use his Weather engine, I have Active Sky P3D.

Bingo.

It started to work again.

What I did? I turned ON the Weather engine for one time and Turned OFF. Now I stared to see CURRENT SIM: P3Dv5 and see ok sync status for v5.

It looks like the SKyForce3D (fresh installation even) somehow remembers the previous settings (after uninstalling?) and it was necessary to activate the weather engine just one time.

Sun in current version?

I use also Envshade so hard to tell me its REX SF issue or Envshade in v5 but before update was ok (I use non EA).

I use HDR ON in v5.

Obtained the updated installer and reinstalled into P3DV5 no problems. Reset themes etc and ran P3DV5. Rex operated as expected. Loaded real time weather without issues, wx briefing all operative and no glitches. 

A couple of screenshots - Out of Sydney Australia this morning heading east into Pacific on climb F180 Forecast was for cloud scattered to broken in the east with showers and wind from the SE) - Sim reproduced this no issues (wind 147/31) . Rex is now generating good cloud layers and coverage and I am seeing precipitation and higher level cirrus as expected. 

First shot breaking out of the cloud about F150 in rain.

Second shot clear of cloud and about F180

Cloud coverage is improved cloud shaping is fine (a few little odd bits but thats all) sky colouration consistent with EA in P3DV5 and HDR and EA both selected sim and Rex. 

I am impressed much better than the inbuilt wx cloud generation of P3D.

What I noticed with this new version - every few minutes I started to recive FPS drop, like something is loading / monitoring in the background. This stutter appears for a very short time (btw. I fly 99% in VR only) but it wasnt present with version before. Oddly enough, it is there even when new version of SF is not running but was installed. I dont use his Weather engine but of HiFi (so only sync and textures which, as always, REX has beautiful). Strange.

Im back to 20200228v. and its ok again. Hard to tell me where is the issue. Created support ticket for this. SF is added to virus exclusions and my UAC is off always. Really strange, I havent idea where is the problem.

Agree on textures. The recent ASCA textures were a major improvement but the issue was with the repeating textures especially whenever CB's were reported.

Did manage to install the update, which I got notification for one day after installing the last v5 Beta, which was last Thursday.
