When will there be a PC to run MSFS?

I can't for the life of me figure out why someone sitting 2 feet from a monitor needs 4K

Yes, you made that perfectly clear in other posts.

I'm using a 77" TV at 4K. Ultra everything, terrain LOD at 3.0 in UserCfg, getting fluid, stutter-free fps 30+ in all but the most demanding photogrammetry locations. CPU at max 30%, GPU at +60%. Point is, hardware is available - not necessarily cheap though (or readily available).

Where do you sit in relation to the screen, just curious?

If I had to guess I would say 1m away.

so it’s going to be at least late 2022 or 2023 before there is any opportunity to improve and get better performance for MSFS and have a chance of running it at smooth frame rates.

The whole premise of your question is wrong IMHO.

You can indeed run MSFS smoothly on current hardware.. a lot of us do, as you can tell from the responses.

Time to close this topic.. 😕

I wouldn’t necessarily say so... I’m pleased that the majority are happy with how it’s running, but most seem to be within limits of what they are content with or with what is available now..

So the ideal would be at least

3840x 1280 resolution

ultra settings

at least 60fps

Large city area

real world weather

realistic AI

complex heavy aircraft

air hauler 2 or similar

when that is achievable then I would say the PC is the match of MSFS.

may not be what some would seek and may be a push for a home PC but that’s the point of the discussion

Do you actually have MSFS installed?

Yes I’ve tried it but my setup is nowhere near good enough. I’ve also spent many years chasing the hardware for FS9 and spent a lot of money on it but never achieved getting it to run how I wanted it to - limitation is as much financial as anything else, but wonder if utopia is possible with MSFS or I would rather not try to get there....

I bought a gaming PC by CLX 3 months ago, just to run  MSFS. I had a 5 year old PC that ran P3D like a clock, but it wasn't going to work at all for MSFS. I spent about $1450 for the new one.  I saw the exact same PC on sale today by the same dealer for $1900.  This is not a hobby for the financially challenged, and with the price of components, it's only going to get worse. .

I think you have already answered your own question... 🙂

You can probably see a difference between 1080p and 1440p, but 4k vs 1440p is much harder to tell at that distance. BTW, I am on a 120" screen sitting about 10' back.

I'm a recliner flyer, so no rudder pedals or too big joysticks. Think my joystick cost $50 or so, most Joysticks are too heavy to use from a recliner. Maybe one day I'll switch to a flight chair type setup, but don't have anywhere to put it really unless I use a monitor instead of a projector.
