MSFS, You Drive Me Nuts

It's hard to say where the issue is without knowing the code. It could be an asynch process locked and waiting for something to clear out, like a server command not being updated fast enough, or it could be memory as you said. Even in my own code, I have often been wrong where the issue is, so speculating on something as complicated as this is tough. Though I'm sure there are some 'expert' speculators here, it's still tough.

Oh well I am USUALLY wrong when I debug my own code :-)))) And I noticed that the actual problem is always much more basic than I had thought. Involved and well hidden, maybe, but basic nonetheless.

The joy of programming 🙂 And after 45 years I still write my own prototypes: it's like an addiction.

Yup, that multiplayer bug is bad, I assumed everyone had that turned off by now.

Yes, I am quite sure that it was turned off yesterday near Florence. Default 172 w. steam gauges, No traffic whatsoever, a wonderful flight from Siena (Ampugnano is the airport), around the hills toward Florence, left to Prato 300° for 15 miles @1500ft, all smooth, then back 120° going toward Florence again. At a certain point, where I used to see spikes, the slideshow began. I had to turn it off.

I am not totally sure about Cancun: maybe the MP was active, who knows.

If any1 could try that flight around Florence and confirm that it is bugged ...

tnx

Never done multiplayer either.

I would absolutely love to, but it is obvious the sim needs some work in this area before I try it, as I don't want to have a first experience that is tainted (like with my first girlfriend! 😆).

There are some great possibilities with multiplayer.  Hopefully we can eventually get speech over the internet so people can talk to each other - I believe they do in other online games (I don't do online gaming myself - yet).

One suggestion is to have talk coming through automatically if a radios frequency is tuned to 122.75 MHz (apparently a frequency reserved for chatter between aircraft).
This would have to be limited by range I suppose, or it could be a nightmare!

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

If you join a group flight, you will find that talking to each other is part of the experience.

A good place to look is DTP

Well thanks Bert - I have book-marked that site and will be sure to give it a try!  👍

121.50 will have people doing animal noises and shouting "Guard" every few seconds.

Just like real world.

Ah, yes, the guard channel!  Is that where you are supposed to shout "Mayday, Mayday" like in the films?

Yes, but one must say it thrice, thus; "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday" - and then add; "No, Really - I am in serious trouble - everyone shut up for a second. Yep, that's fine! - brilliant impression of a cow there. Thank you for that. But the fact is - sorry, can the pilot doing the impression of the clucking chicken just shut up for a second, the truth is I've ditched in the Channel - here's my position - can someone please rescue me - like, now, like really now. Oooh, fantastic impression of  a dog bark whoever that was - in fact, was that a real dog? DO YOU HAVE A DOG IN THE RIGHT HAND SEAT?", etc. if one is to have any hope of cutting through the chatter and being taken seriously.

It is a Channel, one feels - that doesn't do what it was originally made to do.

But then, of course, we've got better Tech that's replaced it's relevance.
