May 30, 20215 yr I am not talking about high altitude. Before the update, I flew around Bermuda, and while the water masks weren't brilliant, the landscape and beaches were really sharp. Today, from the same altitude of 2000 feet, they look really blurry - actually painful to look at. The trees and houses are fine, but the landscape, beaches, and reefs/rocks are a real mess. In fact, the houses and trees look so sharp in comparison it just doesn't look right at all. I haven't changed anything. I don't use any of the caches and I have all my texture settings on ultra. I tried running at 200 on LOD (up from 175) but still no good. Everything else is really sharp, just the landscape textures are blurred. Strange! I am running at 4k 70% so it is really noticeable for me - anyone else seeing this? Is there a quick solution I am missing or is it a sim update thing? May 30, 20215 yr I went and had look for the first time so can't really compare. The terrain I saw (TLD 170 - 2560*1440) was of a rather coarse resolution but not blurred. Overall, the overall feeling is mixed. A strange green, not so tropical, a lot of shore morphing, autogen could be better, no watermarks. Not my favorite place in the sim. May 30, 20215 yr Are you streaming the terrain data via the internet and is your cache on or off... These could be your issues due to bandwidth and latency and server load and not the update! Chris Camp

The sim normally gives me a warning if internet speeds are slow, but they seem pretty good today. The textures seem to be good at low level but blur out as I go higher. I have never seen this before. I am really hoping it is a temporary glitch. I am going to turn the PC off and go to bed now - so tired - I have been chasing my tail on this for a few hours. I will see how it is tomorrow and maybe try different areas. You never know what you are going to get from day to day! Edited May 31, 20215 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I had:- Connected Up and running 158ms Packet loss 0% But both NAT Type and server connectivity weren't right (Closed and blocked). I pressed the 'Fix it' button, and they now show as open and connected. What a strange little error. I never had this before. However, Windows 10 did another update after the MSFS sim update on Tuesday, so I can only think it changed the configuration or knocked it out of whack somehow. Sincere thanks for your help with this tip. I will check the sim later. It makes me wonder if any other people are having the same trouble. There are so many inconsistencies. Some days I just don't know what to think! I will check in the sim for a difference now. My next question is, will I get the new opening screen or not? Flip a coin! May 31, 20215 yr @bobcat999 Did it solve your problem, I mean are sharper textures back ? Everything is connected on my settings except that the NAT shows "Teredo n'est pas éligible . Cela pourrait vous empêcher de jouer en multijoueurs" (Teredo is not eligible, That could prevent you to play in multiplayers). What in the world is Teredo ? It solves many issues such as texture streaming, real world weather delaying or not loading, real world traffic... but not in a 100% consistent way. For example if you take off from Murmansk, runway 31 and head straight out you have very bad texture loading and at high altitude it's a disaster. May 31, 20215 yr Author So, mine seems better this morning. I have just checked on the same flight and from the same altitude I can see sat images of sun-loungers and deck chairs on the beaches - not that I am after that, it just proves a point. This same beach was a blurry mess yesterday. (Sharpening is on, and everything else, aircraft etc, looked really great - it was just the load-in scenery playing-up yesterday). Maybe MrFuzzy's fix helped. I sometimes wonder if the servers get hammered at weekends also. The Carenado Seminole or Seneca (can't remember) updated this morning from the marketplace, but was downloading at only 2mb/s! My internet was free and ready to go at max speed with nothing else downloading, so that was strange. Asobo do need to do something about the LOD though. From medium distances, white runway lines are a chain of white diamonds sometimes, and I have landscape morphing everywhere. I notice the taxiway signs and windsocks are also popping up at short range. The more you look the more you notice the LOD unfortunately. I pause my computer and scan around outside for a while to see if it is my PC that needs to catch up, but no, it is just the LOD setting. I am now virtually maxed-out on graphics settings, and LOD 200 in the menu, but I think it must just be an Asobo setting in the sim. Performance is great though. Even at 4K 70% scaling and most settings on high / ultra, I am easily holding 30 fps in most situations. When unlocked from Vsync it shoes 43-44 fps. So at this stage, I would rather have just a bit more level of detail, and things showing up at longer range. I may try to goo to 300 or 400 LOD in the user config later to see if that does anything. Thanks for all the help, comments, (and sympathy ) in these forums. 👍 Edited May 31, 20215 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). Surely there are many other areas affected. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/everyone-having-scenery-resolution-streaming-issues-please-read/278035/25 [Rant On] No no no! This is not a fix for anything. Teredo is a classic case of the “placebo effect” -at least where MSFS is concerned. Teredo is a very old and deprecated protocol that was intended to be a temporary stopgap measure to allow computer systems and routers that do not natively support IPV6 packets to communicate with IPV6 hosts by encapsulating IPV6 packets inside of IPV4. Microsoft never intended Teredo to have a long life - they have been trying to shutdown their Teredo servers for years. (Since 2014). There is a very good reason why Teredo is disabled by default on Windows 10, and why users have to go through the long complicated series of steps detailed above to get it up and running. Microsoft does not want people using it unless they absolutely have to! Virtually any network card or router made in the last 6 or 7 years will natively support IPV6 without the need for a kludge like Teredo, as do probably 98 percent of all ISPs. If you need IPV6 connectivity, all you have to do is go into the settings for your network card and put a check mark next to “IPV6”. All network cards will use IPV4 by default, but some do not have IPV6 enabled out of the box. Even if Teredo was automatically available on all Win 10 installations, it could not, and would not make the slightest bit of difference in MSFS connectivity, because MSFS does... not... use... IPV6 MSFS does use a lot of network connections - especially when it first launches - and EVERY one of those connections is good old fashioned IPV4. I do have native end-to-end IPV6 connectivity on my computer, router, and ISP, and when I look at my network connections with a network monitor, I do see lots of IPV6 activity - especially when browsing the web, but never ever from MSFS. It is all IPV4. Turning Teredo on when it is not needed is kind of like replacing your high speed cable modem with an old US Robotics 56K dial up modem. Even if a particular game actually does require IPV6, and could not get it any other way but by using Teredo, it will never be as fast as either native IPV6 or native IPV4 because the process of stuffing IPV6 into IPV4 is time consuming, and adds another layer of unneeded complexity to the TCP/IP stack. I know that people who repost these instructions for enabling Teredo mean well, and sincerely believe that it somehow improves their MSFS experience, but there is no possible way it could. There may be some X-Box games that do indeed require IPV6, but MSFS is not one of them. Running the X-Box network diagnostics utility and pressing the “fix problems” button might very well fix other parts of the network connection that could be affecting MSFS, but any references to Teredo either working or not working are meaningless. Enabling Teredo does absolutely nothing. As should be clear by now, I do not have Teredo enabled on my own computer, and though my system does support native IPV6, I have occasionally turned it off, and run MSFS for days on end using only IPV4 without the slightest problem. Nothing related to textures etc. Just had a look at Murmansk, a real disaster, darkisk imagery poping up as a wave with a very short LOD. Never seen that elsewhere so far. How do you explain the benefits experienced by various users? Also, when "Teredo is unable to qualify" there is no real time traffic, I can encounter 1-2 aircraft in normally crowded areas, whereas with "NAT Open" the ATC is very active and I even get frequent traffic alerts for aircraft near me. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
