Incoming ATC Very Faint

Featured Replies

Hello, lately (maybe since the last patch?) I've found that the incoming ATC transmissions (ie everything other than what my pilot says) are very faint.  At first I thought that it was the recurring issue where ATC doesn't work at all but it's only incoming transmissions and they're definitely playing, just very faint.  Faint enough that I can't really here them in a normal flight situation.

Same issue with Azure and offline voices.  Same issue using my headphones and speakers.  Sound mode is default, all volume sliders at 100%

Any ideas?

I agree, I also have trouble hearing the ATC. There is nothing wrong with my sound. All the other aircraft sounds are load enough. Voices not so much.

Just a thought. Did you try increase com volume ?

Go to sounds, set them all to 70% and leave ATC at 100%.

Depends where you are, but ATC transmissions contain software to simulate degrading and interference caused by terrain and atmospherics.  I notice this a lot when I go flying in mountainous areas.

I agree with Nyxx about reducing all sounds  to (I use 80% myself) and increasing the ones you want higher (such as radio transmissions) to 100%) or just reduce the engine sounds a little (there are plenty of silders to play with and the settings you choose may well be different depending on which aircraft you fly most of the time or whether you use headphones).

I will try that...this all happened in an aircraft using the GTN530 mod, perhaps that’s modelled in the mod?  I’ll check it out.

Thanks, the issue though is that mine are loud and clear and the rest are extremely quiet...I think ATC would impact both my transmissions and transmissions that I receive?

Thanks, I’ve heard that effect and it’s quite a nice touch but in this case I was at KFLL.

This may help you...with my Logitech 5.1 surround, there are different modes for the speakers, I have to make sure the front center speaker is on, seems that that's where the ATC is coming from. If not, I get the same "muted" ATC issue!!

That definitely sounds like the volume on whatever com unit your using isn't turned up properly.  I've encountered this several times.. i could hear my comms but couldn't hear anything in response only to find the com volume turned right down.   Seems a bit random whether the comms volume is turned up or not on aircraft load up.  First thing i check now when the systems are fired up.

Turns out it was the volume setting on the GNS530.  I learned something new!  Thanks very much.
