Do you have two folders in community for the ship traffic?

The original mods folder named GAIST_MSFS_V1  and the folder  gaist_msfs_v1_CVT_  ?

No only one folder the original one GAIST_MSFS_V1

Same problem as Dominique_K then....

I see he's already posted in the official Flight Simulator forum thread i linked above so hopefully Henrik the author of the mod will come up with a solution for you guys.

I have strong reason to suspect the second folder that ends with _CVT is auto-generated when the Global AI Ship Traffic mod is installed correctly.  I say this because my GAIST_MSFS_V1 folder is in a custom folder that I point to with the Add-On linker tool, and the _CVT folder magically appeared in my community folder sometime later even though I never put it there.

Can you look inside the GAIST_MSFS_V1 folder in your community folder and verify that you see the usual manifest.json, layout, json files and then 4 other folders (ContentInfo, Effects, Scenery and Simobjects)? And not a nested folder for GAIST_MSFS_V1 again?

Stoopy, you are 100% right about the above, and I feel this may be leading towards the issue.  The CVT file is definitely auto-generated, and is always found in the community folder, even if you install the original folder somewhere else (as I do to use addon linker).

I wonder if it is either a permissions issue with the community folder (it shouldn't be), or is there enough space on the drive, as it is a large file.

My auto-generated 'gaist_msfs_v1_CVT_' folder inside the community folder is 1.34 GB just for reference.

The other thing is it might be failing to compile the models in the CVT folder for some reason.  I don't know what mechanism it uses to do this, but there could be a system file missing or out of date, like the infamous VB runtime files etc.

You're clearly  not doing enough flying..  mines up to 3.5 GB. ...alternatively i might be hopelessly addicted 😄   yup..that's the more likely explanation. 😉

Wow!  3.5 GB.  I have heard it converts them as needed, so yes, I must admit I do tend to stick to my favourite flights, and a lot of them are in Utah - miles from the coast!

This is  my line of thoughts too. I have spent part of this morning to look into this. Again !

First, no nesting and every file is where it should be. And I did the unzipping with two different methods.

It looks indeed like there is a permission issue which prevents GAIST_MSFS_V1 to create the _cvt in my computer. Windows 10 ?

Now you open a new avenue :what is this VB runtime thing ?

The Nielsen ship traffic is a nice addition to the sim but it has taken too much of my time. I will live without I think 😄. Waiting for a miracle.

It is just an example.  I think it might actually be MSFS that does the conversion as required, and it uses a lot of system files and libraries for various things, so I am wondering if there is a system file missing or out of date for the conversion process.

A lot of people had CTD's traced back to Windows 10 system runtime files in the early days ('VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll missing in Windows was a common one) so I presume MSFS links in to quite a few of these system files for various things - it is only a guess, along with the permissions issue.

I sincerely hope you can fix it Dom, as this is a great part of the immersion factor for the 'living world' they are trying to create; once the water effects and wakes get fixed, it will be superb!
Asobo won't have to bother with it when this shipping module works properly.  It looks like they have trains on the list instead.

All seems perfect shows only GAIST_MSFS_V1 with sub folders including menifest.json. I have downloaded Add on linker V2, Could you please give me some instructions

about setting up the app. Thanks

2,2 GB for me. I'm not a fan of inland flying and always on a coastline somewhere or making trips purposely across large bodies of water.

Thank you very much for giving me video link, I still have the problem about AI BOATS File. I have set up the addon linker but I really do not understand what's the benefits having these

two extra folders instead the community one, if kindly give me some tips about it. I have put all the files in the addon linker folder and I think it's working as the fs community folder is empty

Thanks for al your communications.
