Milviz C310 on Hold ?

Featured Replies

Seen a couple of reports that Milviz have announced that the C310 is on hold due to techincal issues but I can't find confirmation of this from a primary source.

Anybody heard anything official on this ?

(Huge disappointment if this is the case, but that's life I guess)

It's coming.

Last update was late 2021 release. Haven't seen anything since.

Here's the official scoop for ya.

The C310 isn't on hold; work is progressing steadily.  However it won't be out as early as we'd originally planned because we're revamping the visuals, systems and flight dynamics to meet the highest standards for MSFS.  There aren't any technical obstacles stopping us, we just took a hard look and realized we had to upgrade some things before release.

It will certainly be released this year, we are aiming for this summer, but it won't be done until it's absolutely as good as we can make it.  The community deserves no less.  I'll keep everyone updated here when significant milestones are reached.

Will it have WX radar? Folks from aerosoft say it technically impossible with current SDK and WASM

This is so far down on the list that we haven't even discussed the 3rd party items that would go into this aircraft... or not.  (i'm speaking of GTN/GPS units, radios etc...)

I believe most of us recognize the situation here and understand. What I cannot understand is why they closed off ability to implement available well-developed products.  To me personally that robs from my comparative experiences and it appears to detract from an overall feature set you have been able to provide previously  with your excellent products.

G’day,

I am really looking forward to the C-310R being released – was one of my favorite aircraft – I have several thousand hours on them in RL – including many ferry flights across the Pacific.

Now I really hope that the fuel system is accurately modeled – the fuel system is fairly complex for a light twin – mainly the tip tanks (48US gal) – the two aux tanks in the wings (either 48 or 22US gal) & two locker tanks of 22US gal ( I last flew one about 30 years ago so my memory of tank sizes may be a little out & I can’t find any of my manuals)

The fuel system had the tips & aux tanks driven by the engine driven pump & the locker tanks were electrical pumps. What that means is that if you lose an engine you can cross feed – but only from the main tanks – meaning you will have a heap of unused fuel left in the aux tanks.

So in normal flight you want to use up the aux tanks ASAP – now the problem there is that the engine driven fuel pump delivers at a constant pressure to the regulator & depending on the mixture setting will pump the excess back into your tip tanks.

The procedure I was taught was to use the mains for the first ½ to ¾ hour & then switch to the aux tanks – now seeing that the excess fuel is pumped back into the mains after a while the mains will refill – at the point when the mains are back to nearly full – you then switch back to the mains – rinse & repeat until the aux tanks are empty – now if you have an engine failure you can the cross feed to the good engine.

Now after the aux tanks are empty with the locker tanks you do the same thing – wait till the mains are down & the use the electrical pump to refill the mains.

This is obviously more complex when you factor in ferry tanks!!

Now that is one part I really want to see accurately modeled. Now the other thing is that the fairing on the tip tanks where the position lights & the strobes are fitted has a very cunning little bit of simple engineering – a small hole – about ¼” diameter has been drilled into the fairings on the pilots side – with a clear insert – so when you switch the position lights on you can actually check if they are working – just a very simple little thing.

Now that leads me back to the ferry flights – and an interesting little bit of an aerodynamic trivia – sitting there for 16 odd hours – at night – between say Hilo & Pago Pago there isn’t much to do other than the constant monitoring of the fuel etc.

So looking out the window and watching these little position lights I noticed an interesting phenomena – they actually described a slow ellipse – some kind of Dutch roll that you would not pick up in normal times – nobody could actually explain to  me this slight instability – just an interesting observation – don’t think it occurred in the short nose models.

As I said I will have the C-310R when comes out as it was up there as one of my all time favorites ( having said that I hated the C-320 - was for some reason always a dog to try to land smoothly).

Hope this post has been of some interest to people
