For years Sears (Roebuck) Department stores in the USA had Kenmore as it's house brand for household appliances. Sears nosedived in near fatal spins over three decades, heroically pulling out of the spins just before impacting earth. All the time shedding weight in order to survive. JC Higgins? Cast overboard! DieHard? Cast overboard. Craftsman? Cast overboard! Sears Best? Cast overboard! Kenmore? How did it end up on aircraft? LOL! Especially after failing to survive that last fatal spin! July 1, 20214 yr Author Well guys n girls, (those who are still following this trivia) I am finally back on the ramp and what a trial and tribulation it has been. To summarise, I spent roughly10 fruitless hours initially trying to get working PFD and MFD after the last update. I was getting nowhere so I did a full uninstall and reinstall. Last three updates (for me) = 3 uninstalls and reinstalls. After a seven hour download and install I finally had no contents in the community folder ... but, I did have working MFDs and PFDs in the aircraft mentioned before. During the download, I scrutinized (with an intense scrute) for about five hours, the huge number of changes and additions that were applicable to Australian scenery. JESTING here. I then spent about four hours per day for 3 days reinstalling from zip files, all my aircraft, utilities mods and sceneries into my community folder. The only problem I had was with the "JDs GTN mod" ..... I simply cannot wait for RXP to come to the rescue here, but I think that may be quite a while. Anyway, after deleting and redownloading it about three times with no difference, I have abandoned it temporarily. All in all, everything is working again and I am left to reflect on the enormous amount of work involved because of an update that gives me approximately nothing. I already have Navigraph subscription which works handsomely. Incidentally, I religiously rename my community folder before an update, but as stated before, this has not worked for the last three updates. I must work on another plan LOL Finally, I am happy again, but I have to admit that I used all my best swearwords every time I thought "Microsoft Flight Simulator" Did not really help much but LOL Thanks again to all who tried to help me and I leave you with the thought that I am "hanging" for the next update. July 1, 20214 yr So JD’s GTN mod was to blame all along? You gave poor Asobo a hammering for that. If so, could have saved yourself a world of trouble and cleared the Community folder out first. Here’s the thing, even an unrelated mod livery can mess up avionics. Some mod devs are still learning, especially the freeware guys. They can make mistakes. First step should always be to clear the Community folder of all mods. Not all avionics mods….ALL mods. July 1, 20214 yr Author RaptyrOne, I would dearly love you to show me where I said JDs GTN was to blame. I still have no idea where the problem lay, but I do know that it worked before the update. Here is the thing. I do have a few clues about what is going on here with MSFS. Changing the name of the community folder is much the same as deleting the contents of the folder (be they mods or not) and saves about four hours copying the folder to another drive and another four hours copying it all back. By the way, the ten hours mentioned prior to uninstall and reinstall was doing deletion of mods (all) and trying to get the system working again. Deleting all the mods did not work. The rest of your comments I will leave alone, but please realize that all of my work trying to restore MSFS did, understandably, lead to some frustration. I do appreciate your comments though, as it is a process which I have followed for a long time now. It has also been widely advocated in many update topics before this one and is probably very well known. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard.
