Ray, but he wrote that he tried minimal settings, and I am sure that with them it is easily possible to achieve 48fps and much more. I asked him about his power management mode setting in NCP because if you go back a few posts earlier, you can read my discussion with Steve W that if you leave that setting at "prefer maximum performance", core 0 will always be 100% if you limit FPS via NCP regardless of the graphics settings (it doesn't mean that smoothness can't be achieved). Only if you select "Optimal power" will core 0 load be lower if there is performance overhead.
August 4, 20214 yr Author Moderator @Afterburner, I have a profile setup for P3D with Prefer Maximum Performance and can confirm core 0 drops below 100%. But I have a 30Hz monitor with VSync enabled so don't use NCP to control it. Maybe that's a factor. Ray (Cheshire, England). Yes, your 30Hz monitor in combination with Vsync is an important factor that is not affected by the prefer maximum performance setting. If you want to test, you can set your monitor to 60Hz and limit the fps in NCP to 30fps and check your core 0 load.

LATER: Just done a quick check. 60Hz on monitor, 30fps set in NCP, VSync off in P3D. Max Perf in NCP. Slewing 200ft up at RJAA and then slewing through 360 degrees Core 0 does hit 100% but only when the main airport is in view. It drops to 77% when less demanding parts are in view. But I'll drop down to Optimal Power as I only set Max when I was having DXGI CTDs and that setting was recommended. Edited August 4, 20214 yr by Ray Proudfoot Additional info Ray (Cheshire, England). August 4, 20214 yr The only way I can get my main P3D core to drop to below 100% utilisation is if I am in stock scenery in a stock aircraft. And then it's about 95%. Or else turn down the settings so far to the left that it looks like FSX again. I don't suppose I can view your P3D settings anywhere, @Ray Proudfoot? Would be interesting to see how mine differ. We have comparable CPUs and GPUs in this case. Temporary sim: 9700K @ 5GHz, 2TB NVMe SSD, RTX 3080Ti, MSFS + SPAD.NeXT

August 4, 20214 yr I've never experienced a complete 100% CPU use, and never messed with Nvidia power settings. I just vsync in P3D, and set my monitor to either 30 or 50hz as required. All with max settings, obvs complex a/c raise CPU use but never to 100. Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
August 4, 20214 yr I think I recall @SteveW discussing that CPU counters might not be always accurate with overlays due to some reason or other? Maybe the input from NCP is skewing the CPU use output somehow? Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS

In FSUIPC Traffic I set it to remove Ai once the fps drops below 27. That seems like a good balance between fps for landing and keeping a decent number of Ai (AIG) in the sim. August 10, 20214 yr @Ray Proudfoot thought I'd replied to this already to say thanks... evidently not. Sorry! And thanks! Was going to say that your settings are not dissimilar to mine. I guess it's the aircraft that really pushes my CPU hard in the current case. I was able to sit in the default flight with rather higher settings than that with Core 0 at 50%, so it's definitely possible for me.
