The problem is that the author seems to have a hard time explaining what the addon does, and how it does what it does.

The naming is a bit clearer now, in my 5.1 update the folders are (numbering is mine):

1) Seasons - Summer N - Winter S - Bijan V5.1

2) Seasons - Fall N - Spring S - Bijan V5.1

3) Seasons - Winter N - Summer S - Bijan V5.1

4) Seasons - Spring N - Fall S - Bijan_V5.1

So they roughly represent the appearance of our planet in the months like this: 1) June, July, August, 2) Sept, Oct, Nov, 3) Dec, Jan, Feb, 4) Mar, Apr, May. 

If for instance you copy folder 1) to your community folder, you'll have summer in the Northern hemisphere, winter in the South. So a flight from NY to Santiago de Chile will be represented correctly with varying seasons along the way. For the other seasons, the trees are adjusted accordingly, but if I understood correctly, the tropics are always green without any seasonal impact, or at least very little change throughout the year.

Does this pack make palm trees look like palm trees instead of obelisks like in the default game? I fly a lot along the coast of California and the thousands of obelisks are very distracting. I want to see palm trees.

Yep, take a look at the video at 1:48 and from 2:02 on...

If with the tree mod you still discover obelisks that should be palm trees, just get in touch with Bijan to fix it, he's very responsive.

Edit: Now that Tuskin mentions it, I haven't thought of photogrammetry, I'm not sure if the tree / seasons mod can do anything about bad looking photogrammetry trees...

Turn off Photogammetry

So basically, one only installs the correct season where they do want that season to correspond to the actual time of the year, based on this it will automatically adjust the seasons for the rest of the planet and the Bijan trees will appear accordingly in all seasons all around the planet?

As far as I know, anything bought from marketplace does not install in community folder.

The one in simmarket has all 4 seasons.

 

So in the market place version Is there any way to switch from say Summer North to Winter North, or does the Marketplace do that in updates according to the season where the owner of the sim is flying. I'm confused. Sounds like it was much  better to buy it from sim market than the Market Place store, which I am sorry I didn't do.

Not if you buy it in the Marketplace.

When I downloaded the package I received several additional folders:

Bora_Bora, Gorse_bushes_in_UK, LOWI_Airport_3D_Winter_Trees_V1.0, Zhangjiajie_Hills and 3D_models_-_Bijan_V1.4.

My question is, do I use them alone or do I uses them with one of the seasons ?

That's the older version. Upgrade to 5.1

Many of these are now into one folder. Instructions are in install.txt

just to double check. I've upgraded to 5.1, and the "install.txt" states to use -

   3D Models - Bijan_V**              (currently V1.4?)
   Gorse Bushes in UK

 Yes, Bora Bora, Zhangiiajie Hills and Gorse Bushes in UK are now inside 3D Models folder. So you can delete the previous folders for those.

Ok, so the only 2 folders we need are:

3D_models_-_Bijan_V1.4

4_Season_Pack_Bijan_V5.1

Is this correct ?

The problem is SimMarket is showing us all the other folders to download and that is where it gets confusing.

The 3D models - Bijan V1.4 only shows 

2 folders and 2 files:

ContentInfo

scenery

layout

manifest
