Slideshow in Chicago

Featured Replies

Apparently my system can't handle Chicago O'hare.  When it loads up I pretty much lose control of my PC in an agonizing slideshow.  When everything gets loaded up I manage to get 10fps.  Is it my system or is this common?

I have an I7 10700 with a 2070 GPU.  I'm running 1080 with most stuff on High.  In rural areas I'm getting over 50 FPS. Thanks for responses.

Are you using any add-on scenery for this area?

My PC: i7 10700k + 32GB 3600mhz + 2070 Super. Everything set to Ultra @1080p. Using FlyByWire A32NX and default scenery.

So he is complaining about a slide show and you present to him a slide show?  How about a video......

I 'love' my O'Hare landing slideshows.  Ok, not really.  They are definitely frustrating.  I don't do much flying in and out of there right now due to the performance hit.

Scrub the high impact stuff and fly into the Midway scenery available at TO!  If you are focused on an approach, what pray tell can you otherwise pay attention to?  A highly detailed rail yard?  Then get a train simulator! LOL!

Whoops!  Perhaps take in Sox/Guaranteed Rate park if KMDW's winds are from the SW!

"Glad" to see it's not just me, for some reason Chicago & LA seem to consistently tank my FPS even when flying simple GA.

Coincidently I landed the FBW A320 yesterday at (FSDT) KORD in the midst of nasty weather with overcast, rain and embedded thunderstorms with no trouble at all, no stutter and very fluid throughout the approach and landing. This morning I took off from KORD on my way to RJAA with the 787, clear weather, no problem at all. My settings are on a mix of High and Ultra, HD resolution, Render Scaling 100, Terrain Level of Detail 120, I7 8700K no OC, EVGA 1070 8GB, 32 GB RAM. These two airplanes are not easy on the frames usually and yet everything was absolutely silky smooth.

So nothing wrong with this area really, could it be your settings, did you try to deactivate your add-ons to see if this has any effect, my PC has far lower specifications than yours so there is no hardware excuse for that performance.

O'Hare has always been my worst airport by far. No idea why.

O'Hare is my home airport and when I travel (talking real life here) and I'm taking off, I look out the window and say "Man, those frame rates are good!"  Then, I realize it's real life.....
