frame rate limit doesn't work

Featured Replies

In my case frame rate limit doesn't work , i have limited it to 30fps  inside the game (general option--graphics) but the frames aren't fixed into 30fps and they are moving between 20-45 fps.

How can i limit the FPS to 30?

thanks

Strange as that is what I did too and it perfectly holds/ does not exceed the 30.

  • I find the following settings work well for me:
  • Disable GPU overclocking, software-based too, can cause crash-to-desktop issues.
  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, for MSFS, set Max Frame Rate to 45 FPS.
  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, for MSFS, set Threaded Optimisation to OFF.
  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, for MSFS, set Vertical Sync to ON. In-sim MSFS Vsync to OFF.

Download nvidiaProfileinspector 2.3.0.10 and set it there. Not ingame.

Have you also tried to limit your monitor to 30 FPS?

I observe the same. Since one of the latest updates, the internal frame rate limiter does not work anymore. Before these updates, my settings "30 fps" "Vsync ON" did cap my fps at exactly 30. Now it stays between 35-50 but without stutters, so I don't care much as long as the sim is smooth.

9800x3D (Strix x870e-E)  -  64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30)  -  RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR  -  Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2)  -  MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

The internal frame rate limiter work as adaptive V-sync, setting it to 30 will give you half your monitors refresh rate, so you will only get max 30 fps if your monitor works at 60 hz, I have my monitor at 75 hz and get 37.5 fps at max.

How would to set it up for using a 144hz monitor? To get it smooth?

thanks

If you set it to 20 fps it will give you a third of 144 hz, eg 48 fps at max, but you can use other programs to lock your fps, like Nvidia panel or Riva Tuner.

But I'm pretty sure you can run your monitor at 60hz if you like, it's usually one of the default settings.
