July 21, 20214 yr I too have owned a ButtKicker Gamer in the past. The concept is similar, but the SimShaker software just takes it a step further. As you are aware, the ButtKicker Gamer(out of the box) basically plugs inline with your audio out and relies on the hardware filters within it's own amp to prevent the highs and mids from reaching the ButtKicker's transducer. It filters the game audio output, and sends just the low end frequencies to the shaker. SimShaker doesn't use the game's audio in any way. The software uses physics telemetry data streamed from FS2020, and then calculates the appropriate tactile feedback. Personally, I use a USB DAC for my headphones, and I use my motherboard's onboard sound card for SimShaker. The SimShaker software can be used in conjunction with a ButtKicker in the same discrete manner. The SS software can handle up to 6 transducers. /That many transducers makes sense for racing sims, imo, where you can dedicate one shaker to each corner of the chassis, and have 2 left for the engine or gearbox, or whatever else that particular sim supports. iRacing is a good example.

With all of the different options out there, I'm confused about what way to go first: Option 1: Purchase FlightDeck and mess around with their pre-configured profiles. Option 2: Purchase Axis and Oohs and set up the StreamDeck to use the various profiles created by @guenseli and perhaps also set up the Flight Tracker plugin to create my own profiles later For what it's worth, I mainly fly the TBM930 so option 2 seems like the better starting point but I'm coming at this from a place of ignorance at the moment so I'd appreciate the collective wisdom of the posters here for advice. Well I went with option 2 and have been happy so far. Considering Lorby’s AAO is not that expensive and is also offers other useful functionality outside of Stream Deck. ‘Between Guenseli’s profiles and Flight Tracker there is a lot you can do. Personalisation is not that hard. July 26, 20214 yr I keep blowing a lot of hours on trying to get functions tied to my Stream Deck XL and my Xtouch Mini. but it is still very disappointing that many functions have no working script, and must be activated by the mouse cursor on-screen. My latest efforts have been pointed at the Garmin 430 and 530 in the steam gauge C172, reasoning that if I could tie most or all functions to my peripherals in this simple bird, there might be an equal chance of binding the same functions in the more advanced glass panels, but alas...at this point the glass seems only half full, and until the SDK provides more functionality that isn't tied to the mouse, I just won't be able to create a satisfying panel implementation. Being able to have only partial binding capability while still being tied to a mouse actually makes things more confusing in the end, because you have to chart, or remember, which things require mouse activation and which things function off the panels. Using Axis and Ohs just adds to the confusion, because now you must rely on outside scripting for some functions, and the MSFS options for others, to get complete functionality. and if you forget and leave peripheral functions set up in the sim and also tie them to Axis and Ohs, you will experience conflicts. At this juncture I'm afraid that trying to use these very useful external devices is just giving a taste of what could hopefully result in a satisfying construct at some unknown point in the future development of MSFS. I may just back off and use only what functions I can tie into my Stream Deck through the standard MSFS options and wait for better times to go further. I have read - and it's true - that attempting to utilize these "non-sim" devices with MSFS can be a hobby in and of itself. This is certainly true! Any time spent with the sim in the last couple of months has be spent in trying to get all this gadgetry to work and doing no actual flying at all. Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

August 4, 20214 yr I really haven't had much to complain about since the beginning, but the SU5 update seems to have altered or changed things so much that, for the first time I'm having previously-unthinkable thoughts about why I am wasting so much time on 2020. The update seems to have completely disabled any interaction with my Xtouch Mini, which I just recently spent several hours programming, and now many of the scripts imported into Axis and OHs no longer have any effect, even on my Stream Deck. The "update" also wiped or reversed many of my control bindings. It's as if they quietly wiped the entire sim one night and gave us an entirely new version. And I guess, if it's now all optimized for a console, they did. Anyone else finding bindings for external devices being wiped or disabled? Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

August 4, 20214 yr That's how I feel! Just posted a new query about scripting changes since this thread sees little activity. Frankly, My aging brain finds the overwhelming numbers of keyboard controls in this sim to be far too challenging and complex to deal with for pleasure. Actual buttons and controls in a real cockpit are a breeze compared to this. I hoped that by adding the Stream Deck and the Xtouch Mini I could distill it all down into only the essentials necessary to make things interesting, not study-level, and avoid cryptic keyboard controls. I considered learning what was necessary to integrate these external devices to be a good exercise for the ole' engrams. But having to re-do them every time the sim updates is more than I can deal with. I may be old, but I am still a working professional, and this constitutes a huge waste of my limited time. If this keeps up, I may have to drop out entirely, or dumb everything down by automating most functions, and just enjoy some stick & rudder action, and the sights. I don't think I could stoop so low as to get an Xbox, like others are now talking about! Intel [email protected] GHZ. 32 GB RTX 4070 Ti OC

Was VERY disappointed to find out that almost none of the interior lights have key bindings or scripts that can be used on external devices. Most can only be used with the mouse, and have no default keyboard bindings at all. Scripts won't help here as the SDK provides no means to speak to these controls as of yet. This is a typical experience for those who choose to go this route. So be ready for it. I believe AAO's can find the script for you? http://www.ruscool.co.nz P3D 4.5:), X-Plane 11.55:(, MSFS 2020:), MJC Q400, Saab 340A, CRJ550, B1900, X-Crafts ERJ/EMB; Win 10x64, 32GB Ram, Samsung drives, RTX 3070 GPU, 5.3 Ghz Intel 1200.
