LOD Popping

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Even after the hotfixes, I'm still getting lots of LOD popping on both terrain like mountains and buildings and objects as I pan. I thought this was one of the fixes. One of my favorite thing about MSFS prior to SU5 is that there was NONE of this. Every other sim has some level of it and I loved it so much because when they're present, it really breaks the immersion.

Clouds also look pixelated when you get up close to them. Anyone else seeing this as well?

Overall, this thing still blows any other sim out of the water, but I really hope they can get back to how there were no pop-ins, like before SU5.

Yes, that is the way it is , an unfortunately, many will see they see no such problem....   Go figure...

It’s a shame. Although I just read that they’re planning on adding a slider for LOD pops for those that have faster machines that can handle it.

The sim still seems super blowout still as well.

I wonder how 24GB/16GB top-expensive GPU owners feel about the low quality details on textures at mid/high altitude and low VRAM usage from last service update. Kind of have been stolen of something expensive in favor of XBOX casual players

There's nothing to feel about it. They had to get the software xbox compatible somehow and everyone was clamoring for optimizations on their forums. I personally think they may have pushed the pendulum a tad too far on the optimization side plus their usual "excess baggage" of bugs. However, the promise of the capability of modifying the LOD to suit everyones pc spec makes me not care about what their "intent" was.

My only hope is they don't delay it or screw it up... In that regard the track record isn't great so i hope they come through and NOT break something else.

You should read some of the threads. People like us (see my sig) were lambasted by some people and pitch forks and torches were brought out and called us as elitists and thrown under the bus for daring to want our hardware to actually be able to be used.

It kind of sucks, but at the same time I think it's great that people with more "normal" hardware can have a greater experience than before.

But I hope they will expand with more sliders and higher settings than they currently offer. Asobo has mentioned this might happen in one of their livestreams.

Currently it uses 4 out of my 24 CPU threads, 6 GB out of my 24 GB VRAM, and 8 GB out of my 64 GB RAM. It would be nice to be able to scale the sliders higher with the available hardware headroom.
