There's a good chance they might do it better than in any other sim so far using the Meteoblue feed.

I use Meteoblue and our own products ( I work at the Met Office 🙂 ) for my soaring tasks / forecast, and the products Meteoblue offers for registered users are superb !

If ASOBO / MFS could extend the data fed by Meteoblue with stuff like soaring index, thermal forecast ( surface conditions, laspe rate / humidity / clouds, horizontal wind / Temperature / Vertical Wind Shear) etc..., then that would be Amazing !!!

That would be awesome. The future looks bright for MSFS, Just hoping they not limit stuff for those who doesn't understand what wind can do. If they don't understand they learn in the simulator and that's the point with simulator i think or if they don't want to learn they can turn thermals off. I think thats better.

Yes more precisely the effect is not implemented in its full magnitude, and I am not interested in speculating on why. One wonders why they shouldn't add a preference: those who want it check it, those who don't uncheck.

An option would be essential.

 Other wise the forums are going to be full of posts along the lines of:

  " what the ...  I just switched to live weather and my wing came off"   

with condescending replies along the lines of:

   "check the METAR before engaging live weather you moron " .

It certainly sounds simple when put that way. But when thinking about it, I immediately begin to wonder a few things.

For instance, how would Asobos ai, handle such extremes? They pretty much only in the latest update stopped the things from missing the runway completely and ending up against the side of a barn.

What adjustments (if any) would have to be made, and how long would it take?

If I were them, I would probably opt to make AI ignore it, and not sure if autopilot in its current state could handle it.

Perhaps something to ask Asobo.

But I would also like to see a "Real airframe" option, so when you exceed some threshold structural load something nasty may happen. Or even airframe damage that is incremental in time, depending on how you fly your aircraft. And then some more realism in the aerodynamic behavior at the envelope boundary.

Just to avoid ninja approaches with a 152 that in real life would immediately repay you with a stall.

I am for as much realism as possible, just make it optional.

Also my only argument earlier in the thread which I did not explain very clearly was this:

Make the realistic turbulence and so forth option ONLY available if DAMAGE is also ENABLED.

Yes it's complicated to implement but it was not because of that they limmited it they say. I think if you have it implemented you can work around it. When it's not implemented you can't adjust acordingly.

I can just imagine the unhappy people who turn it on and immediately get a black screen saying the wing has snapped off.......

Yes it would but that's showing it's as realistic as it could be. Need you to think before flying and thats what you need to do when you fly in IRL. Fly around thunderstorms not right in it. For stormchasers they just turn thermals off if they want to. The answere and solution on the forums should be "turn off thermals in assistance menu".

And should you encounter a large, huge turtle, some 10 meters tall, trying to kill you, I know how to deal with it. My Lord Of The Rings Online Lore Master is fully trained at killing giant turtles. Oh and dragons as well.
