Thought the devs said they make msfs for simmers in mind.

You can select better weather in a sim if you don't like what is going on, so there is no excuse for not putting bad weather, and all its associated effects, in a simulator. And more importantly, it was sold to me on the basis that it would have this feature, so if it doesn't, that was false advertising.

I agree to 100%. They set the limit at 1000fpm, why can't we decide for our selfs how high we want that limit. i think they need to implement higher draft-limit when they release gliders. Incase they not nobody can fly those gliders they advertising.

The appropriate place to start a thread and vote for  an option to enable more realistic turbulence and weather options is the Wish List.   If there is no thread under the wish list about it, someone should start one.

Want to edit my topic but can't see the editbutton anymore. Also dont want it to look like a clickbite thdread.

Here is the link to the wishlist thread. Hope you will vote on it.

This is a game. For fun and entertainment. Not to be used for real world training. It says so right "on the box".

If people want to bounce up and down in a thunderstorm, let them. If they want to do Immelmann's under the Goden Gate Bridge, that's their prerogative.

It's not a "teaching tool", it's a bit of fun after a hard day's work.

Oh, and it's of course super-realistic, to immediately be able to jump into a tubeliner.

While we're on the topic of realistic: let's make it so that you have to advance through flight school, starting with the C152, or, crashing your plane into the side of a mountain means "perma death". Let's immediately see the user base shrink by 99%.

Who said that?

There can be preferences like "realistic behaviour of aircraft structure" where you can decide that excessive stress will actually rip your wings off. But if you are not comfortable with that, you just select "arcade level" and everything becomes possible. It is not even too hard to do with the flightmodel they show in their SDK, since they already have the  aerodynamic force vectors on a number of airframe components.

Selling a product as made "with simmers in mind" and then present this game in which, to give an example, you can load the wings as much as you want and nothing really happens, is not great in my opinion.

It does indeed say that, but to be fair that's as much a legal disclaimer as anything else, in the sense that with the litigious world in which we live, nobody at MS wants some relative of a numpty who 'learned to fly' in MSFS then went and killed themselves in a real aeroplane, to come after them with some attempt at a compensation claim. This is why cups at McDonalds have 'contents may be hot' on them and bag of peanuts have 'may contain nuts' on them. 🤣

I know plenty of pilots and ground personnel who use XPlane, P3D, FSX and MSFS for training purposes, me included. It's on them to be sensible about it, and it's not going to be 'official' training, but it definitely occurs on a daily basis and it's pretty useful to be able to do it.

Beyond this, when it is about fun and entertainment, having to cope with adverse air mass effects, is fun and entertaining. Gamers like a challenge as much as anyone and it's a bit condescending of the developers of MSFS to suppose that gamers who want to mess about with a flying game/sim would not understand an updraft or a downdraft, particularly when you see how complicated some role-playing games are, what with all the stats on various attacks and armor stats and weapon stats and combos of these things. Some of those things in games make the checklist for a 747 look like a quick shopping list by comparison.

Who do they think will be flying all the airliners in twenty years' time? It'll be all those kids who are currently playing on XBoxes and Playstations. Kid are not stupid, well, some of them are, but most are smart enough to figure out things, and in any case, the stupid ones probably won't even want to try a 'boring' flying game which doesn't have machine guns in it, they'll be too busy having a tantrum about just having been 'pwned' in Fortnite.

Read through this post and thinking the oposite.

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/realistic-up-and-downdraft-option/360642

They also closed it so we can’t vote on that feature in realism settings anymore.

You failed to mention that they said the feedback has been shared with the development team...

Hello everyone, I’m closing this thread as this not an issue but a will to unlock any sort of limitation on updrafts.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts after the last Q&A! This feedback has been shared to the team!

Yeah i read that but why didn't they move it to wishlist as they mentioned instead of closing it down? Then we could continue voting on the feature. Instead the topic creator needed to start a complete new topic in wishlist instead.  They often move other topics around. But you right they mentioned it to the devs but better to have many votes on the feature and makes it in the dev update lists so we can be updated of the progress.

Not sure, but there is already a wishlist topic saying the same thing with ~300 votes.

Yes, thats good he created a new topic in that category. Hope it gets in the top 50 wishlist. I think it's more important than all the graphics problems but we all think different.

That makes it challenging to land. Would be so awesome to have that simulated for us who want to experience it.

Omg, Good you recovered. Your adrenaline was high i bet. But you want that simulated riskfree in flightsimulator right?

I'm for hazardous weather phenomena can be simulated to folks would learn in the sim and bring awareness in real life.

You thought MSFS devs and producer said they'd make MSFS with simmers in mind? Yes that is true they said that, but as of today, MSFS 2020 has got absolutely nothing to do with aviation and 'flight' simulation. The flight model for example is completely wrong and is worse than GTA 5 and that's just one issue. As long as you treat MSFS 2020 as a game, something like GTA 5, and have fun, it's fun. Don't treat it like a flight sim. Treat it like how I treat GTA 5. I'm a big fan of GTA 5 and one of the things I like to do is drive around the map at high speed. When I do that, I don't look for accurate car physics or live weather. I submit myself to how the Rockstar devs made the GTA physics and weather. Not everything in life has to be study-level, FAA-approved simulators like P3D and XP11. I'm glad that MSFS is a console-based video game where people can use Xbox and PS4 controllers to operate the vehicles. Just treat it like a console scenery generator video game and enjoy and love the world. It's a huge technical achievement by MS and Asobo, although they lied about the 'flight' sim part.

Are you OK mate? You seem really obsessed with FS11, even tho you don't even play it. Why dont you spend time on things you enjoy instead of hate, my friend
