On the first view I thought I´m lucky, it works but looking closer revealed some problems. Not really a joy in v5. It may be better for the 757. Re the 146, I wonder what causes a big issue in P3Dv5 that's not seen in v4.5? Those two verisons are pretty comparable. What are you seeing? I wonder too. It's not a change I can understand like from 32 to 64 bits. Maybe DX12, especially for the lights issues. The RJ variants with glass cockpit don't work. It says on one screen, it can't initialize and the other displays remain black with partialy shown gauges. The variants with steam gauges (146) do work in the cockpit, but the lighting outside, especially landing lights do not illuminate the ground strong enough. It is pretty dark. My guess is P5D droped some old code from FSX or FS9 days, If the aircraft was originally build for P4D, most of them are fine, if the aircraft was originally build for FSX/FS9 and then adopted to P4D... I see that's most who not working well with direct copy to P5D
August 20, 20214 yr I also have the CS757. From watching YT videos before purchasing it looked it is more deeper in flight dynamics and systems then the QW version. It is already version 1.7 which spans around 2 years of continuous fixes which is good. The main downsides that I see - -Lack of PBR, come on we are already in 2021 -Lack of VC lighting during dusk/dawn, come on we are no longer in the FSX era... I also see there are different installers available for all sims, but then as you said that code is not likely optimized to run P3Dv5. 7 hours ago, blaunarwal said: I wonder too. For the lights, there could be some issues based on how v5 handles that compared to v4. Other aircraft suffer that same fate too.Saw that on the Aerosoft Bus as well. For the gauges, have you tried re-installing the latest version? Sometimes that has worked for some users. Also I remember there being a Windows font issue in Windows 10 for the screens being black. It could be that the glass cockpits are using different fonts versus the steam gauges. That may explain the difference. I see that's most who not working well with direct copy to P5D It's more that V5 changes the rendering tech completely. The lighting system is no longer calculated by just a few numbers, they do quite a bit of reflection and ambient calculations depending on the sun/moon position and other factors like the dynamic lights. The rendering engine is also completely different from DX11, and the interoperability is notoriously bad for DX12, so most things have to be rewritten unlike previous iterations of DX. The colorspace had changed since V4 and things like Direct2D have also changed quite a bit. Essentially, if the gauge was made with 16 bit colors, then it will probably work without issues. But if the gauge was programmed for a previous version of Direct2D, then the gauge rendering probably needs a rewrite. Physical gauges unlike displays usually don't need to rely on a rendering engine, it could use XML or just attach the texture to the model and animate the gauge needle manually. The gauge itself is attached to the model and is animated through the gauge, so touching any DirectX code isn't necessary for physical gauges. It's probably why the steam gauges work. Blaunarwal, I just tried the QW RJ70 -a model with the glass cockpit and advanced autopilot. Everything is working fine, no issues with any of the displays. I'm running latest Win10 DX12 etc. I had to get the latest version of the installer from F1 to load the package into P3D. Maybe the newest version has been updated ? Anyway, it's worth a try if you want to run the modernized 146's.

I installed it once in 5.0 but meanwhile we are on 5.2 HF1 and there something may got lost. I´ll reinstall and give it a try. Maybe this can be fixed modding the fx files. nice cockpit lighting, can also be switched off and only gauges are illuminated. The upperhead has only instruments lighted. Maybe I add some FSLSpotlights. No I have to add my textures again. I deleted everything to make sure installation does not fail. Also disabled antivirus. But i think they changed the updater. It is now selectable to install in v5. I always waited for this update but they never told me. The last news on the QW site is SP4 for their 787. August 21, 20214 yr The weak taxi/landing lights seem to be a feature of all pre-V5 native aircraft. Like you said, hopefully an FX tweak will come along... Glad you got the Jumbolino going!
